Tactics Game (Currently Untitled)

Story

Thirty years ago, King Namryn I inherited the thrown of Carnadhan. Carnadhan was a peaceful kingdom full of lords, vassels, knights, and peasants. A group of lords and knights formed together to "help aid the king" calling themselves "The Dragons". King Namryn and Queen Kinata ruled the land in peace and harmony until three years ago, when the Queen passed away while giving birth to her child. Both the child and the queen died. A year later, King Namryn III died as well. The reasons why are unknown, however many people conspire about these odd events.

With the passing of King Namryn III, a questions arose of who would take his place and control the land. "The Dragons" declared that they were the new rulers of the land, and this made since to everyone, so there were no complaints against this decision. Carnadhan continued its peaceful life for a little over a year before some of The Dragons became power hungry and began trying to take control for themselves. This caused total chaos between the members of The Dragons. Some of the members were able to convince other members to join up with them by promising some reward if they should become ruler. Little by little, two large groups emerged, one led by Lord Balious and the other by Lord Dreydon. They began recruiting more and more people, and even reached out to the peasants bribing them with goods and promised land in return for their service. As the groups grew larger, they formed new names for each other. One group became the "Dragons of Terror", led by Lord Balious, and the other became the "Dragons of Soverign", led by Lord Drehdon.

The people of Carnadhan have been caught in the middle of the conflict for what seems like eternity. Because of this, the people who are not involved directly in the war do not care who claims control. They just want the fighting to stop. However, no one has the power to stand up against them.

A resistance group calling themselves "Lotus of the Midlight" has recently appeared. They have promised the people that they will stop the war. But with two superpowers dominating Carnadhan how can their band of ragtag soldiers possibly hope to win?

Characters

Zunath Zintuachi

Zunath and his sister, Zinyai are victims of one of the conflicts that broke out in his hometown of Shan Vahl. Losing their parents, their friends, and their home, they had no place left to go. Lotus took them in and they now serve for the resistance.

He has trouble putting his thoughts into words, and as such he is quite reserved.

Zinyai Zintuachi

Zinyai is the sister of Zunath. Because of the conflict in her hometown, she and her brother wound up in Lotus hoping for a new life. Instead, she was drafted into the resistance due to her magical abilities of healing.

While she detests fighting, she does not leave her brother's side for any reason. Zunath is all the family she has left and does not want to lose him.

Zinyai is outgoing and not afraid to tell anyone what she thinks.

Jaerem

Jaerem is a member of the Lotus resistance force. Unlike the Zintuachi siblings, he joined the Lotus of the Midlight hoping to help end the conflict, rather than being forced. His family lives in a town near the Lotus headquarters.

There are a lot of holes in the story sum.

Why would any central government or kingdom want to change the views/culture of the whole world?

Aside from "control" what is their to gain from destroying the other side? Right now it just seems like this:
Hey we're Red and those guys are Blue. We want everyone to be Red just because we're Red so let's attack them.

When you put a Tactics Game as your title I immediately came to view your story, because I figured it would have something to do with a war. The thing about war is that in reality there's always a bigger picture. It's never "Hey we don't like you so we're going to bomb you." Make sure you weave your war story together very tightly.

I changed the story around a little. Would you mind letting me know what you think of it now?

Thanks a ton for the constructive criticism, I appreciate it. :)

The land was in turmoil and the Dragons split.
How do they establish themselves as superpowers in a time a turmoil?

It's coming together a little better, but you might want to leave the conspiracies and the mystery of the royal family's death as part of the main plot, because it seems a bit more interesting, imo.

Also, a bit more information on how the resistance group formed would be helpful. It just seems like that sprouted out of no where. Are they break offs from both sides? Were they never involved with the Dragons in the first place?

I'd recomment studying up on your history. Get very familiar with past wars, how they started, how the ended, what were some of the strategies used, etc. This will give your game a very authentic feel.
