Swords n' Hedgehogs

really, those games all relied on prior knowledge of the bosses attack and movement patterns, a splash of luck, and little to no real skill.
Pff. You say that like it's a bad thing.
(Yeah, I know I suck at those games. The only one I could actually beat was the first one, and I used every cheat available. xD But meh, I enjoy them nonetheless.)

Just when I thought Nintendo and Sega couldn't of done worse...  they jus HAD to make this CRAP...

However, the Dead Rising Wii release does sound neat.

btw, by unplayable, i mean it they get terribly boring, and the sprites of sonic 1,2, and s&K are hideous (well drawn, still hideous).

i could never beat sonic 2. metal sonic was retard-strong. in the unlikely event i beat him, i never lasted more than like 12 seconds against the giant robot.

i always thought sonic 2's last bosses were the easiest. they give you 0 rings but metal sonic was easy enough to dodge.

anyway, i totally disagree, i always thought they were rather well-done in art (albeit bright, but that was the aim), and I still have a fun time with them. but hey, to each his own.

also: all bosses from all games from the earlier eras had easily discernable attack patterns??? i can't think of one that didn't?? i guess maybe contra, but they just made up for it with just shooting a ridiculous number of projectiles ...

sonic's bosses always seemed more mechanical than the bosses in other games.

it was always robotnick on a REALLY strict movement route, doing specific shenanigans in the same spot every time.

i believe my only motif here is that i'm a gamer who hates games. :\

i, for one, am actually interested to see wtf theyre going to do with this sonic game. the past 395 sonic titles have been rather forgettable. somehow i think this one will break the pattern.

lulz.... people all the time fail to realize why they do this.
the people who complain about how they like the older games, you, (no offense, just clarifying) are less important to the gaming industry than the little tools whining and screaming at their mommies and daddies for the newest COOL LOOKING THING
they fail to realize that the games WERE good, but now theyre pumping out this "nice looking" stuff to appeal to the next generation.
back when sonic first came out, if he originally had a sword, you wouldnt have been able to see it with the resolution consoles had then, so why give him one...
lol, i think my point has been pointed, once again, no offense, i just didnt wanna beat around the bush to make sure i dont offend anyone

Play Zelda if you want to held a sword. Sonic is born to roll, run, and jump.
If 'cool looking' is all that matter, soon we will see Pac Man with buster sword.

You raise an interesting point, but there is an "x factor" with Sonic.  Look at Mario.  Mario tries new things all the time, and I'm willing to bet that if HE had a sword, or took up ninjitsu, or even wore a Spider-Man costume, we'd still clamor for his games, and they'd be great.  So what is it with Sonic that causes each venture into unexplored territory to fail?

I believe it is Sega's business strategy, they're still thinking as a console business.  Instead of focus grouping, they'll look at what's new in the anime market or JRPG market, and make characters and game concepts based on that.  While Nintendo will make a Mario game they hope will be fun, Sega will scrape the bottom of the barrel and make a Sonic game based on the latest flavor of the month, complete with a Sonic replacement(IE Shadow and Silver).   It comes down to the fact that Sega simply focuses to much on Sonic, twisting him, and reforming him into something he's not.  Sega needs to branch out and make new franchises, maybe even retiring Sonic for a while if they are to remain a force in the game industry at all.  They should take a few pages from Nintendo's playbook, and maybe look at other 3rd party developers.  There are a million ideas in the Sonic series right now that should have been separate games.

Is it too late for Sonic?  Could he ever return to being Mario's fiercest rival?  I think he can.  He was popular enough to garner a spot in brawl, so he's still a house hold name.  Sega just needs to get their act together.

What has Nintendo to do with this?
It was on the magazine.

and because it's in development for one of their systems and being covered by their magazine that means that they have anything at all to do with the development process?

I miss the days when it was sonic, tails (Miles), and Knuckles. Once they added Amy it pretty much went down hill. I really loved the Sega Saturn Sonic game, Sonic CD? God I remember doing the ring bonus levels, shit was addicting (bwoop, bwoop, bwoop, bwoop, etc...)

I honestly think if they made a solid sonic styled game without all the extra shit, they could have a fantastic game. I mean sure, sonic with a sword is interesting to a point, but that is like throwing Link into the world of Sonic to collect rings and shit. Meh, I miss those games. Haha i even played Sonic Drift!! On my old Sega Game Gear :D

hey amy was in sonic cd and that was badass, man!!
Extremely, like I said, "after" they added. Sonic CD that was the one I was talking about, it was on Sega Saturn as well if I recall, to many sega systems :\
