Great game. It's an RPG stratagy game, much like fire emblem, but it features much more customization, more exiting combat, and a more detailed couter system. I find SRT to be much better then Fire Emblem, although that's just my opinion.
Gameplay takes place on a grided battlefield, with the mech's heads displayed to show which one is which. You move them around on your turn and execute attacks and such.
When an attack animation plays, you get to see some wonderful animations, robots doing overly dramatic attacks(always a plus), along with a few words from the pilot. Even though the game was made in 2003(in Japan, however just recently translated), the graphics are still very good, and animations are very fluid. During the battlescenes, you'll get to hear a character's battle theme, all of which are good, but nothing very special in terms of "hum them later without knowing"(perhaps Zengar/Sanger's theme....).
This game is very menu intensive. First, you have your intermission menu, where you customize your mechs with weapons and parts, train your pilots, upgrade your weapons and mechs, save..... If you don't like to spend alot of time preparing for battle, don't play this. Likewise, if you don't like going through a ton of text, don't play this. As the story is very big, and is told with only text.
Anyway, check it out, if you like Fire Emblem(or any other RPGTurn based stratagy), play this, it is a very good game.
