Super Columbine RPG...this is terrible

The solution is pretty simple.

If it offends you, don't play it.

The concepts behind Grand Theft Auto and Manhunt are pretty sick, too. Didn't stop them from selling.

From what I've seen, the point of the game isn't to mindlessly massacre a school for the sake of fun; it's to show the entire situation from a different point of view (the freaks who did the whole thing). I haven't played it (nor will I, since the mere mention of Columbine just makes me sick), but from what I've read on wikipedia and the game's site, it's not a yay-fun-fun game. Of course, I haven't read up on it in a while, so I could be wrong.

I feel a lot of the controversy is stemming from people's expectations of video games. Too often people see video games as merely a form of escapist entertainment, and many, as I imagine, probably thought it was the author's intent for gamers to derive pleasure through playing the roles of these two boys when that's really not the case at all. I guarantee you that people who enjoy the wanton slaughter of innocents are going to be playing something other than a story-driven, turn-based RPG to satisfy their needs.

I can't agree with you that the "whole point" of the game is massacring a school, nor can I agree, as some have claimed, the game is intended to promote violence and murder. If you haven't already, read up on the author's comments and the discussion under your link (although those forums are regularly under the siege of trolls, bigots, and the like). Also, did you play the game before condemning it?

What's wrong with it? Really? I myself not having played it.

Is it because it's based on a tragedy? Like that of the Titannic? That space ship that blew up, with the teacher who was an astronaut (can't remember the name of the mission, sorry)? The various mobster stories where people got gunned down for anything - even the innocent? A kind of personal terror that can be equated to the Oklahoma bombings or 9/11 - albeit in a much smaller scope for those not involved.

Because it involved real life murder and suicide? Like the various wars and conflicts we've heard about? And an equally long list - but I'm going to cut it down to get to the point...

We have movies - and/or games - about all of these things. And the least of them have any true good intention in the making of them, even if there is no political reasoning, there is often the "I WANT AN AWARD DAMN IT!!!" mentallity - or simply "Heh, this would be cool".

Sure, the game - from what I hear from people who were offended - didn't actually delve into any story or plot. Didn't tell the events really, and just slapped on a name people would know, and most likely doing so in an attempt at humor. For all I know, if it was named something fictitious, and took place in an office building with only graphical changes, it might be a deeply gratifying game, I haven't played it.

But sadly, except for those who are offended, and those who think it's funny or entertaining, it really doesn't matter. I think Titanic sucked. But that's my oppinion, everyone else loved it. For all I know this was meant to mean something, but still...

it's only a game.

I downloaded the game and played it, and I admit it, I was stupid to have such a biased post. It's actully rather serious, and it's not just "Loloz Columbine massacrez".
