SUMMON NIGHT: TWIN AGE!!! - Is anyone else excited for this game!?

http://ds.kombo.com/images/content/boxa ... ge-box.jpg[/img]

The official website

Summon Night: Twin Age uses a fully touch-based control system. Moving the main character is done by tapping the screen where the player wishes to move. Gameplay is based on real-time strategy, with players selecting the enemies they wish to kill. Abilities are selected for by tapping the icons which appear on the side of the screen.

Story Synopsis

The World which Summon Night: Twin Age takes place in is called Clardona. In this world there are two main races; humans, and the Kascuza, creatures which have both human and beastlike features. The two races were constantly battling, and a short lived peace began after the humans pushed the Kascuza onto a small island. Humans could call up creatures from another world in a process known as "Summoning" and they were constantly researching ways to increase their summoning powers. In one of the faculties, a terrible accident happened caused by a young girl's named Reiha's summoning powers going out of control. The girl was assumed to have died along with her family, who lost their lives in the accident, but she survived, and was hidden with the Kascuza, along with the result of the summoning, a young Summon Beast boy named Aldo. Seven years passed. Near their coming of age ceremony the spirits of nature suddenly began to go wild, and the two of them leave to discover the reason for the strange events.

JUST ONE MORE WEEK, JUST ONE MORE WEEK! I have never played a Summon Night game! BUT I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO! ><  I just never had the proper things... my brother melted my GBA >> dun ask... And then when I got a ds, There was DS games I wanted... AND THEN I FIND OUT ABOUT THIS!

First, give us some information, since it's pretty clear that no one has heard about it. :x

I played the first Summon Knight a little while back. I found it to be a little repetitive, and the battle system quickly gets dull after you encounter the exact same troop of enemies for the umpteenth time on a floor. However, maybe two games have given them time to improve. We'll see. :0

(P.S. you have twenty-four hours to bring this topic up to code before I lockit.

I forgot I was a mod here for a second. Hee hee, silly me! :D)

Jesus Christ this looks like one of the most bland and awful games Atlus has ever released.  Lookit this:

One of the main characters of the game. She is a young human girl raised among Kaskuza. She is cheerful and responsible, and likes gardening and cooking. In battle she mainly uses spells and projectile attacks.

A cheerful female teenager that likes cooking and casts spells.  WHERE HAVE I SEEN THIS BEFORE???

I'm not looking forward to it but I'm still buying it and I suggest everyone else go out, preorder it, and buy it.  Why?  Because Atlus games go for like... 50+ dollars on ebay a month after their release.

Just because of a couple cliches, does not mean the whole game will be completely stupid... =/

I mean, if used properly the cliches can make it good.

Ah see, you've already fallen plague to this horrible disease.  These are the EXACT SAME CHARACTERS you've played in every RPG ever and watched in every anime.  What is so appealing and engaging about MAGICAL GIRL THAT LIKES TO CLEAN who travels around with STRONG SILENT 15 YEAR OLD WHO LISTENS TO WIND?  The game even has an 8 year old looking summoner and a mysterious and possibly evil (but reformed) steely eyed old man (who's probably in his 20s) with pince nez that looks like a ripoff of Kagato from Tenchi Muyo JESUS CHRIST DUDE.

People who honestly enjoy these games are the type of people that think this shit is cool:

p.s. that is OFFICIAL phantom brave artwork.

Even worse, look at this video from Ar Tonelico, a game where you draw powers from submissive little girls by basically raping them.  This shit is disgusting and Japanese video game writers are sexist and horrible.

There are better games available than this and the people who support this garbage are the people that kill the video game business.  I do not understand what is so awesome about boring repetitive gameplay and a crappy story that sounds like a 4th grader wrote it.

"But Marcus!" you say "It's got big eyed little girls who go on adventures and have awkward conversations with shy males that are too introverted and nerdy to understand when a vapid submissive female is hitting on him!"

Jeez.  Does anyone else on this forum have something to say about this game, good or bad, because I feel bad just ripping on it.

You say the same thing about every J-RPG that comes out. I somewhat agree with you, but at the same time YOU SAY THE SAME THING EVERY TIME. We get it, you dont like it.

I think it looks like a standard J-RPG too, but hey look at Disgaea. It was very generic anime style, had a wimpy plot but had great gameplay to make up for it. Same with Tales of the Abyss (well, not as much.)

Games are made for fun, not to find the deep philosophical depth and beauty of them.

Now, Im about to sound like a hypocrite but: This game does look terrible.

Ahaha, i'll admit ><

I'm onyl buying it because I've never played Summon night before...

And i agree with you 100% Moogle, it's not fair that the sotryline is the only thing people look for, the gameplay can more than make up for it.

I also wanna try Summon nigth bewcause I'm a fan of the touch army battle system...

yeah but it's not even fun and these storylines are so ridiculous that it's offensive.  they might as well add a black character with an afro, 70s diamond rimmed sunglasses, and a black power pick in his hair.

oh, and he ends every sentence with "yo" and "word tah yo momma."

... and that was so not funny...

I get your point, but still... all games are worth a try.

Oh and that Phantom Brave pic... It's haw-teh... >>...

xD

And Ar Tonelico happens to be a marvelous game, with a rich, deep STORYLINE AND GAMEPLAY.

Obviously your not a fan of either of those game.  get used to it, that stuff happens.

P.S. - The Ar Tonelico video, isn't about "raping" girls. There's a spot OFTEN ON THE BACK OF THEIR NECK where crystal are palced to give them new powers.

You just shat all over my point. Im not talking about storylines and such, Im talking about the core gameplay. A game can have a shit story and still be fun (The Tales games are a perfect example, but I have a grave feeling you are going to come back with a way to shoot that down too.)

I understand what you are saying Marcus, and you are a great poster, but I only analyze games that are ASKING to be analyzed, like a Final Fantasy or what not. This looks like a time waster, which might be worth a couple of hours. Dont forget that people play video games to escape their reality, not to futher their questioning of what should and shouldnt be.

got daym man listen to yourself!  i'm glad you're turned on by 8 year old half naked girls in sensual positions.  here's someone that may want to talk to you.

then you're playing some pretty bad videogames or reading some shit awful books dude.  it's just more MAGICAL GIRL crap with shy blushing girls and guys that prey on their innocence.

There's a spot OFTEN ON THE BACK OF THEIR NECK where crystal are palced to give them new powers.

dude listen to their conversation IT'S HORRIFIC.

"can we do it in a place like this?"

"you have to insert it into her back.  it'll break the skin but it won't scar her."

"please, hurry but be gentle"

"it's okay... as long as it's you... i can take the pain"

fffffffffffffffffffffffffff
ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

and

fffffffffffffffffffffff some more.

You, Verdeni, could do better with a piece of paper and a bic pen.  It sounds like it was written by a fat greasy nerd who has never talked to a woman other than his mother.

I'm done here man, you won't see me post again but you have some guinely bad taste in video games.

You just shat all over my point. Im not talking about storylines and such, Im talking about the core gameplay. A game can have a shit story and still be fun (The Tales games are a perfect example, but I have a grave feeling you are going to come back with a way to shoot that down too.)

no no i get what you're saying and i generally agree but the gameplay isn't even that great.  how many times must i press "X" in rapid succession to talk to vapid NPCs and fight boring monsters (oh yeah, cooking system + eating system + child porn system + walking system goty 2008)?  the thing with RPG's is that they almost universally have bad gameplay (when compared to other games) because the plot usually offsets this factor.  if the story is dumb, then maybe i'll play through the game for about 5 hours but these games last some 80+ hours.  how can anyone have fun doing repetitive tasks for 80 hours?  in that time you could beat

BioShock
Mass Effect
Devil May Cry 4
Uncharted
Mario Galaxy

those games are not only 10x more intelligent but they have waaaay better gameplay than LINEAR MOTION  PRESS X + LEFT OR RIGHT TO DO DEMON SWORD SLASH (whistling system + custom menu system + eating system)

EDIT: to make my final post in this topic more relevant, here's a statue of Etna a 12,000 year old demon trapped in a 12 year old's body.

Ah, I will agree that the whole consecutive button mashing gets a bit trite after while. I wasnt specifically talking about this game (it looks like shit) but I meant like certain others, but now I can see you werent talking about those :3

Youre right, there are better games to play, but I guess people just like playing the same repetitive mess over and over till they pass out...oh well.

A good example would be like, Valkyrie Profile, which is probably the only Tri-Ace game that doesnt get too repetitive after awhile, and has a semi-deep story line with innovative, non-linear gameplay. *sigh* Why couldnt the other Tri-Ace games be like this?

By the way, people, I am playing it now and it is pretty great. *hint for someone to make a vp discussion thread*

"can we do it in a place like this?"

"you have to insert it into her back.  it'll break the skin but it won't scar her."

Clever japanese bastards. *cue Barry White*

Aha, can I have actual RPG fans post here please?

You guys can leave if you don't want to make constructive talk with me.

I'm an RPG fan, and have been for going on 12 years. And if your not an RPG fan... why are you on this site? =/

RMXP = RPG Maker XP

AND I'm not turned on by it... seriously... I was kidding...

Your the one pointing it out, so maybe your getting off on it.

P.S. - Etna's body is 15... xD Laharl's body is 12.

@Moogle - I love all RPGs... well... most... including VP! ^^

@ BOTH - Leave if you have nothing friendly to say, it would be greatly appreciated. ^^

Gahh the way you post is so annoying man. Jesus fuck, please be more organizational.

Also Marcus is a pretty knowledgable RPG guy, so Id take what he says pretty well. He's right about how JRPGs are being spat out without any given thought.

But yeah, Im done posting here too, just go back to talking about ...whatever its called...

Verdeni, please stop molesting the enter key. It's obnoxious, and an eyesore. Also, although Marcus's tone isn't exactly civil, he's not spamming, flaming, or whatever. He's discussing the topic at-hand(albeit not very directly), just as he should be.

@Moogle - I love all RPGs... well... most... including VP! ^^

That is so lame. It's fine to have genre preferences, and everything, but automatically assuming every game in any one genre is good is... well, it's pretty damn stupid. Especially with a genre so wrought with generic shit as Role-playing games. :\
