Spriters & Artists needed!

A lot of sprites need to be made for our Battlesystem (XAS ABS). That's why we're looking for spriters. Every move needs to be sprited (swinging a sword, shooting a bow). We'd also like it if we had an artist in our team that can make full characters and facesets.

If you can do one of these things, PM me, and show me some of your work. :smile:

Part 1 - Elganaron
In the natural lands of Elganaron, 4 folks lived together in harmony and had eternal power. This power was given by the powerful moonstones melted together in the center of the enormous city Tagoldar. Then, the folks got a conflict and decided to seperate the moonstones so every folk had it's own moonstoon. The 4 folks went to live on their own in new cities.

That time, the moonstones had an enormous power and a lot of light shined out of the stones. If one of the moonstones broke, the folk that belongs to that stone will die. All moonstones together form a great power. A power that never could be defeated. The moonstones were guarded by walls, canals, guardians, and the citizens themselves.


Part 2 - Ildanon
You, Ildanon, are a magical guardian elf, and you're defending the moonstone of the elves in Dilvidion City. The head of the magical guardians, Gondai, keeps track of the moonstone's state in a diary. He found out that the stone is getting weaker and weaker, and if it goes on like this, the elves are going to die. He tells you that the moonstones must be reunited so it's power comes back again. He chooses you to collect the stones, why he chooses you, you'll find out later!


Part 3 - the Journey
You decide to go to the human race first. This trip won't take long. Gondai gives you navigation equipment, with a worldmap, and a map of some islands. When you arrived at the human folk, you see the stone of the humans is also losing it's power. You take the moonstone with you and hurry to the next folk.

*--- a lot happens on your trip ---*

When you've collected all 3 other stones, nothing happens. You decide to get back to Gondai. When you arrive there, he tells you to go to the statue of Hylyriadu, and there the stones will gain their power.


Part 4 - The disappeared city
When you're at the statue, you notice there are a few essential parts missing. You have to collect some parts. You ask local residents if they know where the parts are. A lot of people tell you that they are in the old city Tagoldar. However, Tagoldar has disappeared a long time ago.

You are going to the place where the city has been hundreds of years ago. Now, there is a big lake in that area. Suddenly, you see a weird distortion in the area. Then you see a bird being sucked in and it disappears. You try to run away, but it is too late. Slowly you are being sucked into the area and you wake up in a dark, old forest.

you have some pretty impressive mapping, and that music is amazing. i'll be checking back on this often.:D
can't wait to see the full product.
 
You map like it's your day job.  I approve.  Your story sounds pretty standard but by the looks of things I think you'll be able to pull it off.  I'll be keeping an eye on this.
 
This game looks quite good. The mapping skills are nice, and while I can't tell from this topic, I get the feeling that gameplay will be nice too. Good luck with your game!
 
mapping seems (to me) to range from mediocre to excellent.  i don't like the last big one.  But many of the others i had to just look at for a minute because they look so nice.  proof positive that an RTP game can still be good looking.

screen 1 - (with pan backing) awesome
2 - (cavern) very good
3 - mediocre, i don't like the front cliff face
4 - (bridge) awesome
5 - average
6 - (fort) great, but the left cliffs are too 'busy'
7 - bad, where would someone even walk?
8 - (clearing) very good
9 - (snow plains) bad
10 - very good
11 - good
12 - okay
13 - bad... some parts may be good (this is the big one i don't like)

i'll deffinitely give this a try bro :D
 
Your mapping ranges from good to horrible. Mapping isn't all about visual, it is also about navigation. All your maps look like a pain to travel trough, especially the cave. Please change the font on your story, it is incredibly hard to concentrate on reading. Why does one map have you as a Lancer? Your characters lack a lot. Maybe add some history, bio, personality, characters need depth. Your story could use some work but I really couldn't critic on it cause it was a little confusing. Your writing about what happens in probably the first 30 minutes rather then what the game is about. Maybe make Ildanon a little older, rather then being an elf guardian at the age of 24. That's a little unrealistic, you wouldn't get promoted to a job like that at that age.

Thanks for the comments.

I didn't make all the maps. Most of them are made by mark, and I made the last 3. (the big one we all worked on)

Not all maps are meant to be traveled through, the cave is just for a cutscene. I'll post some more maps later.

It was made when we hadn't made Ildanon's charset yet. I've deleted it from the topic now.

We're still working on that, the story is also still being worked on.

Because of some things (still being worked on in the story), Ildanon has something special. That's why he's chosen.

The screenshots definitely look pretty, but as 006 pointed out, look like a pain to travel through.

Your story seems to be severly lacking, though. Players want to PLAY the game, not read a synopsis. The story section should only cover the world's backstory that isn't explicitly given in the game and a short introduction answering the following four questions: "Who, where, what, why". Who are the heroes, where are they coming from, what are they doing and why. The information drop you've written will just turn off players.

One last thing, before putting "talent" in your character description... it would be a good idea to inform people in the features section what exactly "talents" are and how they influence the gameplay.

And one last LAST thing... Given the elves' vast culture and longevity... shouldn't 24 be like... 5 years old in human terms?

And I can do some mapping too. If you don't need it, then it's fine.

Well, we don't need any mappers & database editors now, 'cause we have 3 mappers and I edit the database.
The things we need now are Artists & Spriters :wink: (a lot of spriting needs to be done for the ABS :crazy:).

Hello everybody. ^^

I'm Niezo(surprise!) a.k.a. Niels. I work on Statue of Hylyriadu as mapper and eventer so I thought it would be good to introduce myself. My registration date is indeed kinda old, but i've never really looked into this forum. :smile: For SoH, I'm right now busy with programming the professions and stuff. I'm also working on the fighting styles, which will have a similiar system. And that's about it. ^,^
