Art Dump's? I guess I get one of these too right?
Star121.png

A character I worked on a long time ago. I used MS Paint to draw it out.

There's the side view of her

That's her sprite. Hair's a little bit brighter than I would wish it to be

Here's just a few of things I've worked on a long time ago. It's a big step from what I used to draw. But. I'm not entirely sure it's the best that I can do. Constructive Criticism is what I'm looking for. I want to get better. And be able to draw those complex shaded things that I see floating around here.

Paint.net
 Those programs are so complicated. I have GIMP. I've been learning a few things here and there. But. It's still way to complicated. Like for instance I have to hold down Shift.. Was it shift? Maybe it was CTRL to form a straight line. Ahh.. Maybe I just need to work with them more. Paint.net? I'll have to check that out

You should look into Paint Tool SAI. It's an amazing program that is build for drawing what it looks like you want to draw, and you can pick it up in less than a day.

Here's a few other things I did in paint. I'm going to try using these other programs and then I'll post my results afterwords

I use photoshop and have for years, although I've JUST started trying my hand at pixel art which is a little harder to get used to than I thought it would be.

I use MS Paint... I have and will forever.

I have photoshop, It's great, very well-rounded. Wouldn't use it for pixelling. I would use it for full-scale design.

GIMP was gay.

Haven't tried paint.net, but I have seen work from people who have, no offense, but yeah.

<-- That was made with MS Paint

It doesn't matter what you use, but in the long run, they're all the same...

MSPaint FTW!!! XD

I've never used anything other than MSpaint to sprite :\

but I don't draw that much on the computor yet, I still dont' like photoshop that much, it's greek to me x.x

I agree with both of you. It's easy for someone to get used to a program and prefer it. I mean, once you get the hang of it you don't want to give it up. As for spriting, that's a whole new topic. I wouldn't even dare using any other programs for spriting except MS Paint. Of course in order to change it to a PNG you need something other than MS Paint. That's about the only time GIMP ever came into use for me. Which is why I want to get used to other programs. Cause I'll never be able to create custom PNG Menus that blend in with everything and varying from 10 to 100% opacity

I haven't tried anything new yet. Been slacking again. :blank:

If you're using a graphics tablet (digital drawing pad) then you've wasted your money, in my opinion. MS Paint doesn't give you pressure sensitivity which would really make your drawings look sharp and less pixely. They're great work as they are. Don't get me wrong. You're very talented. But if you'd give photoshop a try, you'd see what I mean.

If I were you, I'd just find a download for any photoshop newer than 6.0. 6.0 is great for photo editing. Very powerful, but for drawing, it won't include your sensitivity either.

I love photoshop for sketching because it's much more like real pencil and paper. The harder you push the darker and fatter your line goes. It just gives your lines a really nice smooth look. Compare it with MS Paint just like your drawings compared to the picture you have in your sig. That picture has great, smooth lines, with hardly any pixelation. I mean, you don't have to get too technical to actually use it for drawing. All I do is use the pencil or paintbrush, either one works great, choose a pixel size for the tool, and then start sketching. Plus you can use layers, set it to multiply, and start painting your drawings and you'll be shocked at how awesome they'll look.

Whatever you do, do it well. You're very talented. Just don't stay locked in a bubble. Try new things. Sometimes the best things are the hardest to learn. I mean, look at college. If it was easy, it wouldn't take four years and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to go. Compared to the relatively free high school years.

Good luck. And keep up the good work!

Hey, I like your pics but MS Paint drawing used to draw some pixel arts
In my opnion, MSPaint is not good tool for drawing stuff like this,
If I were you, I'll use another tool such as photoshop, GIMP, Manga Studio,
or SAI tools.
In another tools, It have many filters, and It have lots of tools so you can make good drawing. Especially I want you to use SAI tools if you do.
SAI tools have Anti-HandTremor fuction which make your mouse pointer move more smoother so prevent some mistakes. Also it eats small memory but gives powerful features. It's not very popular one, but it is really good one.
I love pixel arts, but I don't like pixelerated manga characters.
Go get tools!

.... He has very good suggestions. And very bad English. XD

Thanks, DJ. I'm going to look into Sai Tools and Manga Studio. Though I'm sure that Manga is out of my price range, and it sounds like Sai Tools is mainly for mouse users.... ( I use a tablet ) But it sounds cool anyway. I'll check it out.

Hopefully, Starguardian will heed your advice as well.

This is my second attempt at a Paint.net Picture. Thanks Ynlraey for suggesting it. I'm going to try SAI Tools next. It might make it better.

Okay this. time I decided to draw it out on paper first. Then scan it and then use Paint.net to spoof it up. I know it's been forever since I posted or drew anything, but i got into the mood and this is how it turned out.
