Starcraft: Zero Hour - Ultralisk [WIP]

I'd recommend less of a straight on view, instead with more of an angled look from above, but it looks.. wait.. *looks at the actual picture*

Jimminey that's HUGE! lol! :) If it's a static picture, keep it at that angle just fine, heh ^_^ Throw some shading in and it should be awesome. :)

You should make smaller ridable versions. *Grin*

Me and my riding bugs... hehe.

Well I've been around since RMXP.net but I just haven't posted anything in a long time. There was sort of a standstill of progress on my game and hopefully this sprite will shoot it off again.

I'm actually planning on having this as a fully animated boss for use in my game which utilizes a SBAS. I've already got the perfect cinematic sequence to introduce this guy. I'll tell you guys what I have planned in a later post.

Thanks for the compliments! Still needs a lot of work though ':|

Okay, let me say one thing and one thing only.

I fucking applaud you with sticking with this for so fucking long.

I remember you starting these sprites like a year ago on MotW. Incredible that you're still doing them.

That's crazy, I can't believe someone from WotM would even remember my old posts there. Back then I was going to try and make this game using ripped starcraft graphics. Then I tried to do some spriting on my own and it turned out pretty good, so I decided to ditch the ripped graphics and make my own.

Yeah I remember you too. From way back I saw your topic with the tilesets you were making and I even pm'ed you, trying to recruit you for me project but was turned down... thus leading me in to my spriting on my own stuff, now look where I am now :P

Anywho enough remembering the past, the monster thing whatever it is looks good, I feel sorry for that little guy below :P. You have to finish him and animate him :P

nice.

However, seeing that it is a zerg, i think it should be less... mirrored.
The left and right sides kinda look the same... there should be more the make the sides look different, like a contantly growing creature...

Then again, it's pretty big... I've tried making big stuff too.. but the player ends up walking though them :(

I've solved the problem with the player being able to walk through a large character like this.

As for the mirroring problem.... man.... I guess when I finish shading him and everything I'll try and change the left or right. It took me long enough just to draw half of this guy. I mirror imaged it so it would take me 3 hours to make instead of 6. xP

how do you prevent the player walking through a large character like this? Event control, where if player is in certain radius they get pushed back, or something?

Well, one of the new pixel movement scripts did it (It'll be the first one in the Script forums if you're curious)

In fact, if this guy's using it, I REALLY can't wait to play his game.

Edit: ShadowApex, if it isn't a problem, could you either direct me to a page or topic detailing your game? Or perhaps post a few more screenshots of other characters?

In my signature you can be linked to the forums specifically for this project. I'm thinking I might make a topic in the Game project forums too, I just haven't had enough time.

Well, the New Pixel Movement only has a few problems. It was made to fix all the problems of the original PM scripts.

Hey, anybody remember when those fools were saying, "You can't do pixel movement! It's impossible, dumbass!!!"

Who's laughing now?

Ok dude, its cool and all, but first thing, it looks nothing like an ultralisk, and secondly HOLY CRAP THAT THING IS FRIGGIN HUGE! And shadowing, add shadowing. But still pretty awsome, better than i could ever hope to do.

Well, I'm sure it isn't finished, and ultralisks ARE huge, it just doesn't look that way from the sky. And it looks almost perfectly like an ultralisk.

Have you seen blizzards ultralisk? the head is right and all, but still, for it to be on the RPG Maker it will need to be a bit smaller because youll be able to walk like right into its legs.

It'll be to scale in the mmo.
And for a game like this, where I'd imagine these guys would just be a big obsticle in the road near the end of a level, the size is fine. It wouldnt naturally be so large if this was a strategy game with many many units to manage.
