This is my first graphic.  It's a staff that I made for a game that I unfortunately will not be able to continue working on right now.  Here it is, criticize if you wish.

The thinner part of the shaft is where the wielder is supposed to hold it, if you didn't already realize that.

make it a little bit thinner it looks too fat

the bottom half doesn't look shaded and the part that connects the shaft to the, orb?, should be thinner, its not usually that thick.

You're using colours with too little contrast in the wood. Which is pointless, because you can't see the detail at 1x.

You still need to work on your shading. Have a look at the RTP icons, and learn off them.
