Sprites for my KH Fangame.

I've been trying to improve my KH game as a lot of people at the old thread were either flaming at me or saying my game sucks.
First, I've been trying to improve on spriting so I'll post the sprites here and then I'd appreciate it if you'd tell me how I can improve it. And please don't flame or say "It sucks!" or whatever cause that's not helping.

In this link is Pete's sprite. NOTE: VirusChris was the first person to see this and he decided to add the hair. Everything else was me.



And this is King Mickey.



This is an original character Hex.

Hex was actually made up by a friend I know in real life and asked me if I could put him in my game.

This is my newest one. Xehanort!

Well I know you dont want flaming so I will give you some tips :thumb:

Well First Your King Mickey and Pete look like it was a 5 min job I think you should put a lot of time and care into them
(im not saying they are it just looks like they could use more work),

And Are you using MS Paint because if you are I would Suggest Using The Newly Updated "Gimp 2.6" It has transparency, layers well just about everything an artist needs :thumb:

5 Minutes? Wow, I need to work on timing then cause those took over 20 minutes each. So I'm assuming your talking about shading? If so, I'll work on that.
Yes, I am using Paint and I have photoshop but I use Paint because, to me, it's easier to sprite using that.

I have edited Pete and Mickey by adding more shading and Pete has a slight edit on the side views.
So what about Hex? Anything I should edit for him?
 
Hex is good and I dont think he needs much improvement,
But Pete looks like he was made out of squares and rectangles and thats not eye catchy
so could you try to round off the Squares and Rectangles.

Oh and with Mickey how about you make diffrent versions of him like "Keyblade Mickey" "Organization 13 Mickey"

Yeah, I was trying to have the Pete sprite match the RTP style, but I'll try making him more "round"
Well, the story in my game actually takes place 20 years after KH2 so Mickey won't have Organization XIII cloak, however he does have a white cloak.

...Is everyone else being quiet? This guy's the only one really commenting.
 
my only suggestion is, please don't pillow shade, other than that nice job

Edit: Its also a bit obvious that you copied pasted frames but didn't flip them, like on Pete, one frame is backwards.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't know how else to shade. I kept searching but never found any spriting tutorials for the RTP style so I was looking at other styles.
The reason Xehanort looked kind of better was because I was looking at one of the similar RTP sprites like Fighter04 for the hair and other stuff.
A frame is backwards? Can you tell me which one because I can't see one right now.

Again, I haven't been able to find RTP styled sprite tutorials so if you can tell me where I can find them, I'd appreciate it.
 
I really like your work :grin:

But again "Mickey" and "Pete" need the most work.
My improvements would be
  • More forms eg: "Mickey with a Keyblade" as he is a Keyblade wielder obviously shown in KH and KH2
  • Try and improve "Mickeys" walking transition it looks a bit un-natural like he is on drugs :lol:
    • If Hex will be a Keyblade wielder in your game I would suggest also adding a Keyblade.
    • Next lot of Sprites try hard to stay away from "Paint" try something else :grin:
      • Xehanort looks like he is crying :lol:
      • Pete in the last frame thing looks like he is scratching his butt.



    • I hope you dont take those as "Flaming" but I think those are the things needing improvement.
      I really like your work and please dont get discouraged by Flaming just keep trying :thumb:
