Spam getting out of hand

Thats the problem ;_; I have two accounts. Hotmail and gmail. I only use my hotmail account when I sign up to websites or buy things online. My gmail account is only used for my voice actors to send their lines to me. Otherwise, I NEVER use it or give it out *cries* how do they do it?!

They haxxed the internet. Literally.

I don't much at all, and I don't lie about my age or gender. Want to know the secret? Simple: obscure e-mail providers. I use Excite, not many spammers know about it so it's like a safe haven. But now that I posted that I'm probably gonna get swamped:( . Although I did get a check offer that kept on coming (10 e-mails a day at one point), even after I clicked their do not mail list. Multiple times. They even knew my first and last name, which I NEVER use on the net, so I threatened legal action and haven't heard from them since, gotta love a well-placed bluff. I'll list some of the lesser-knowns if anyone's interested, they're all free.

UPDATE: In retrospect, no. I think that'd be forum spamming.

Never try using the "click here to be removed from our mailing list" button in a piece of spam, because they only use that to confirm that an email address is active, not to actually remove you. ;)

I get so much freakin' spam it aint funny... and ZankokuNoYami is always in my name!! How do they get that from a generator?! WRAR!!

Stupid spam... making my life a living hell...

I once got a different dating email each week. "White Women?" "Black Women?" "Asian Women?" Apparently not answering one, they went on to the next. Kept going till they went through every race too >O

Even Pygmy?

I've been getting a lot of spam from illiterate people, that or their computers pull random words out of the dictionary. I get topics like, "as so Montana", "is melancholy", "be to pineapple", and so on. I'm actually kinda thrilled, as I've been starting to get some literate spammers. Hooray for credit card offers, I guess.

I do what Kraft does, one throwaway account for quick registers and one for personal stuff. It works pretty well. :/

Wow, five people yesterday alone have "approved me loan requests". I am 16... I live with my parents...

Plus, someone e-mailed me and knew my mom's name, saying "*name_here*, I am thinking about you always...etc". The e-mail address was officematesoftware, I did a google, and yep, spam. How did they find out my mom's name?

Oh and in case you're wondering, I never open spam, just read the description.

Spam? Never had it really.
Only get mail for what I asked for.

News letters for games and such of that sort.
(Games online I play, gamespot, game spy and so on.
If there are games on it I don't like... then yes I have spam, otherwise no.

Key to no spam? Well I donno.
Maybe because of the following...

1. I never click stuff like "You won bla bla bull****"
2. (I think) My PC has more anti virus, fire wall, anti spy ware and other stuff then a national bank! O_o
3. Pop up blockers... I use 3, that's maybe why... No idea.

So out of hand spam?.... Well not for me.
Maybe if I'd get sloppy. (My anti virus needs to be updated but for that I have to buy a new licence...)
We'll see when span goes to a new level.

Simply posting your email address in a public place can lead to spam, since some people use crawlers that sniff out email addresses on various websites (like forums).

I've never actually received much spam. So, it really isn't a problem for me. Although that's how most companies worldwide make their money. Advertising even by ignorant and rude means (spam) is considered acceptable by them.

Seems they now think I'm some sort of male whore or something, as I just got eight spam messages all saying something along the lines of "Find an escort in your area" (I translated it from French), "Sure to find pleasure tonight!", "We got pr0sti7ut3s 4u!"...

They also somehow found out my full name...

Yeah, one way to cover up your email(I'm not even sure THIS works anymore) is this: instead of blah@something.org say blahATsomethingDOTorg.

Oh, and I barely have any spam, maybe 2 every month, usually one of those "I gots a bunch a money, can you tell me how to spend it?" things.

Simple obfuscations like ihatespamATblowmeDOTcom are often not enough to keep yourself safe from email harvesters. If you have to post your email address, a picture of it would be idea, or just try more complicated obfuscation.
