Description

A game that uses an Action Battle system to capture and Harness Souls.
Use Soul Swirl to fuse up to 3 different souls to create a more powerful soul.
Use souls for things such as Stamina and Focus Restoration, as well as
to learn and even upgrade your current skills.
Become Nicola, The Soul Hunter!



Story

As a child, nicola has always had somewhat of a 6th sense, She would see things that were never there, and hear things she could never see. One night nicola awoke in her bed in a screaming fit. Struck with pain. Pleading for help, her grandfather Braice, a former but well known collector of ancient artifacts ran in to nicolas room to offer assistance.
He ripped off her covers and tried to find where it was hurting, but Nicola kept yelling "Get it off me! Get it away!!" Seeing nothing, Braice remembered an old trinket he received from the indian Chief ThunderStalker after rescuing his son from the canyons of Scar Valley. Braice was told that this pendant was very rare and incredibly powerful towards
spiritual beings. Placing it around her neck, Nicola instantly stopped screaming, and began sobbing on her uncles lap. "Thank You"
Nicola, now 16, has kept her trinket on her at all times, not once taking it off.
One night however, Nicola feels the presence of a soul and wakes up in a pool of sweat. When she goes to see her grandfather to ask why the charm didn't stop it, he is gone.
with nothing but her 6th sense to rely on, Nicola searches for her grandfather, looking for anything she can find to help her.

Her whole life Nicola has sensed the supernatural, she has had many strong encounters with the other side.
Some encounters were quite dangerous. However upon recieving her unusual trinket from her grandfather Braice, her encounters have been
less frequent and not at all violent.

Features

*Soul system: Capture souls and use their power.

*Soul Mixing: Mix 2-3 souls together to create a more powerful soul

*Soul Transformation: Transform yourself into a greater more powerful entity

*Blizz-ABS: A great ABS System, a diamond in the rough.

*Challenging Scenarios: The way you mix souls or the way you distribute your stats, all change how your play will turn out. And it will always be different.

Well, the storyline seems fairly solid(if a bit cliche >.>)so far, though one would hope that if that's all you have, there's a lot more to come...

As for the soul system, how exactly will it work, especially in terms of collecting souls?

Like, you probably wouldn't be throwing pokeballs at monsters and yelling "Your soul is mine!", right?

And as for graphics, you won't be using the RTP will you? It really doesn't seem to fit your game at all...
 
It would be super cool if you could upload another screenshot since you need at least two to qualify for a Project Discussion topic. :thumb:

The story sounds decent enough, although I'm not too keen on the "souls" aspect of it, mostly because souls are a very overused element in RM games. But if you make it so it deviates enough from standard RM fare then this could actually be a fun game.
 
Story: I appreciate your story line. It isn't traditional at all and I would like to seee where you take it. I do have issues with what direction you are taking it though. In my opinion, I would not make this a RPG game. I would stick with more of a puzzle game or something like that. Nothing scary though, more mysterious. I think an RPG persay wouldn't ruin the game, but there are better roads you can take with this story that are much more original and fun.

Graphics: Overall your mapping is okay, but no where near gae making level right now. I would suggest going to the MappingImprovement thread and getting input. You have the basics down, but you need some polishing. Your maps I feel really don't match your story. I would expect, with the story you have, the maps to have an eerie, not creepy, feel. I would gray down the saturation. Another great idea would be to make a black and white game, if you are going for a vintage feel. Either way, screentone can be your biggest asset when making this game.

Other: N/A (Not enough info is included to make)

Overall you have a decent start. I don't agree with where you are taking the story and there are much more original ideas and routes you can take that would stand your project out from the pack. Your mapping can use some polishing, and I suggest reading some tutorials and going to the Mapping Improvement thread for the full details on your maps. I wish you would give us some more information about your project. This is something I will keep my eye on and see where you take it. o:

The soul system, well no you won't be yelling "Your Soul Is mine" I will be using a script that when an enemy dies you have about a second or to to press the "P" button which will begin the soul taking sequence. From there depnding on the difficulty of the certain soul capture you will be given a random set of keys that you have to press in a certain amount of time to obtain the souls. However with Bosses the souls come automatically.

No i won't be using RTP graphic, the reason for the screenshot was to show the Blizz ABS system and the Message system i'll be using (however yes if your wondering, the graphics of the ABS will be changed)

I'm sorry, i was supposed to be uploading a second screen shot the next day after i posted, but my computer was full of viruses and there was no saving it, (that's what you get from trusting links, ey?) But i will be putting this back together (What i ahd was simple to re-create) And i will upload more screen-shots. Feel free to move this to Concept Development until then.

Yes souls are quite a bit Clique, but they are also a fun element.
Expecially with the features i'll be implementing with them. They will be fun to experiment with.

Your exactly right with the puzzle thought. I want to make this a Horror/Puzzle/RPG game. Let me explain. I want the game to be full of puzzles that take thought to get through, i also want it to contain various elements of horror, not as much as most horror games would, but a little. And rpg, i want it to have an RPG like story-line where it takes you from place to place and you can choose different pathways and what not. Somewhat like Zelda.

The RTP maps are not what i'll be using, i will be using completely custom graphics, which will take time to obtain/Make (I'll have to learn more about spriting, or hire a proffessional) as i said to Ulqiorra it was just to show the systems i am going to be using.

I will be adding more to the story soon, but first i want to re-create the project, and finish polishing the systems down. After that i will come out with more and show you where the story leads.
