First off: RMXP vs RMVX - What are the major differences between these two programs and which would you recommend me using? The type of game that I am going to be working on will be heavily story based fantasy. I would prefer using the side view battlers, but the issues that I was having with RMXP a few years back was that I could not figure out how to have new monsters with those side animations. The reason that the front view "pictures" worked the best was that I could always just introduce my own new monsters instead of the games default ((which weren't enough)). What I really liked about RMVX was the fact that it had a world map feature, which is something I really need.
Character Switching: In my game, you will be starting out with your one character. Throughout the adventure, you meet new characters, but can only have X amount in your party. Is it difficult to write a script that allows the player to switch between characters when on the World Map or when they're at an Inn?
Character Customization: At the beginning of the game, I want the player to be able to choose a class that they would like to be. Warrior, Thief, Mage, etc. How can I go about doing this?
Lighting: When entering a cave/dungeon, is it possible to darken the outside of the "screen" so that it appears to be darker?
Thank you for taking the time to review this. I appreciate any feedback.
