Some Battle Trouble

I have a sprite in my game (sephiroth to be specific) i have a sprite sheet and he works as a boss like i want him too but for some reason i cant give him a sword (note he's humanoid) does anyone know how to give a boss a sword like you can give weapons to your party?
 
No okay lets try again. You know how your character takes out a sword to fight? I want sephiroth to do the same (ie fighter runs up to enemy and pulls out sword (sword animation follows)also im useing side view battles system (Rye.jp's starter pack)
 
I think the problem is that noone understands properly.
If you mean you want his charset to have a sword, you'll have to modify it in a paint program to make it have one. Then, in game, you can make it so that when you talk to him his graphic changes to the one with the sword (Use move event -> change graphic). Hope that helps.

Edit one: Well to be more discriptive I'm no good at spriteing and i want to explain what the real problem is i use a side view battle script and a caterpillar script (so the charsets move up and down)what i want to happen is just like a charset battler when they walk up to an enemy they take out their weapons and attack. i want that to happen when sephiroth attacks
