So, my computer recently crashed and lost any and all files on it, including my copy of RMXP. Is there any way I can re-install it, or do I have to purchase the software again?

you can download the program from their site anytime, but you'll need a serial to activate it. does your old one work?
if not, I forget who it is exactly who handles licensing copies of rmvx or rmxp, but if you email them with your story and your receipt, you should be able to get a replacement serial.

The company is Protexis. I recommend going straight to them, because they generally do help.

Yeah, Glitch, I had to do that also...twice...Just send them the receipt and your problem, and they will give you a new serial. :P That should work.
