Soft Summer Night

Hey guys.

I made this song in half an hour (from 01.30 AM to 02.00 AM, and it's now 02:03 AM) and, although it's really wierd, I want you guys to listen. It's guitar only, i didn't made any arrengements to it's errors, because, it has some wierd passages... It's a bit like my style, but, I'm not as wierd as that.

Now since I'm getting into compossing myself I will tell you this. If you are going to make a track this short then it would be wise to try and make it loopable.

Now as for the actualy midi it is nice and has that summer Night feel to it but it just doesn't have a consistant mood. Sometimes it presents happyness and other times it gives a depressed sort of feel. Now I have little to no musical speech skills but yeah I hope you get whatI mean.

Also a lot of people around here also seem to like fancy things rather than ambient tunes. (I prefer ambient tunes though out of personal preferance so my view isn't the best)

Well, no, because, it's really just it. There's no loop because it's not going to be used in anything. It's just the song as it is.

Music tends to talk about things, it's name isn't to do with it, it's to do with what was surrounding me at the time. A summer night doesn't have to intierly be sad, nor happy, the point here is the night.

In my opinion, repetetive songs are boring. I believe songs are like life, songs can tell a story, and songs can make you happy or sad. This is just a song I made in a summer nightwhile silence surrounded me. Maybe Silent Summer Night would be a better name, but, what does it really matter anyway? Music is music, you either feel it or you don't.

It feels like Sad Summer night to me. It feels like there's some struggles to get this tune into the major tone but it never quite happens and eventually stalls to a stop. (0:26) (0.49)

It sounds really harsh as a midi but I think a simple render would give this song much more character. If you do render, I think nylon acoustic or jazz electric would suit it better. (i believe it is steel acoustic right now?) That would cater to both the 'soft' and 'sad' attributes of this song.

There were way too many cacophonies for me to enjoy it. This was especially apparent when the guitar went Bb to A to G.

There's a nice little old program called TiMidity - it takes a soundfont file and plays a midi with it. It can play direct (i.e. it comes through your speakers) or you can save it as an MP3, WAV, etc. I'm sure there's a more 'professional' way, but this is a fast and easy method. I made a short tutorial for it in the Timidity thread in the Music Creation subforum.

what it needs is a violin or flute melody in the background....what program do you use....???...have you tried Cubasis??? it works wonders
