It's the most popular sport in the world. It's going to have a huge following in every country.

I do enjoy watching the European or World Cup games. It's funny watching the entire pub sink into depressive drinking whenever we lose a game (ie. every game).

The football culture is depressing at times. As with everything, you have some bloody wanker ruining it for everyone else.

Football's the biggest and most popular sport in Germany, I'd say, closely followed by Formula 1 and maybe Boxing. We hardly have any other sport events that "come out big" on television, and if you're into niche sports like me and want to watch Rallye or Parkour, you better look it up on the net 2 months before, because you sure as hell won't ever here about it otherwise.
Football, then again, is omnipresent, and the whole country just went crazy when we were hosting the World Cup a few years ago. I'm not into football at all, but the feeling to it was definately there... and it was cool ^^
