Smash Bros. Brawl Topic

I have to say, I love Pit. I started with him, fell off the edge and went to use the boost to get back up. I didn't know he had the flying ability, which is hella awesome. I was like 30 feet away, started it up, and got to screen. I beat All-Star on Extreme difficulty with JUST PIT. That's how good he is :-3

SSE takes absolutely ages and is rather boring, it consists of watching FMVs and running

Takes ages?  Jesus...it wasn't that long, I think it was an amazing touch to the game.

Items sway the matches too much, I've turned them off in fact

I think thats why they have them!  IMO, the items add so much more fun to the battle when you see everybody scrambling for the Smash Ball or
a heart or something.

satellite internet sucks for gaming.
ssbb sucks for online gaming.

my observations.
1.ike is a gigantic faggot.
2.jigglypuff got fucked over.
3.lucas is the best character in the game.

1. True.

2. Epic False. His Final Smash is trash, but he/she is a great character if you know what you are doing.

3. Again, WTF.

There is too much music
Either your being a troll or just stupid, you've got to be kidding me. Have you listened to the music in this game at all, good sir?

I agree with the whole items taking away from the match thing. I usually turn them off because with them on any body can win, even a total noob.

Bottom line: The Jiggly Owns. (lol)

the clones aren't as clone-y as they used to be.. except toon link. he just looks like a carbon copy to me.

im pretty disappointed with lucario (final smash is lame, and he flys a little too easily), and the fact that it doesn't look like they helped out Ness much. instead they just completely fucking outclassed him with lucas. Gannon got hooked the fuck up tho.. that man just wrecks shop now (well, even more than before).

olimar and lucas are my favorites. theyre super fun to use, and they're both really good. olimar's final smash just clears house, or at least deals an assload of damage to whoever it doesn't KO.. and the yellow pikmin are awesome at launching. Lucas is just fucking godly.

i never really guessed jigglypuff was an aerial attacker. i stand corrected there, i suppose.

btw, the AI is fucking CRAFTY with snake.

Ah, my brother is a toon link user and he says there is a massive difference, toon link is much lighter and moves faster, trips over more aswell, to counter this his attacks are not as long ranged as TP Link's, when I absorb Toon's powers as kirby I have noticed the arrows don't go as far as TP's, Toon's chain is much shorter too.
My brother uses Lucario as his secondary too.

Meta Knight doesn't suck, or anything close to sucking. He has amazing combos, aerial game and recoveries. Every b-move of his can be used to recover, mach tornado eats projectiles and shuttle loop is great for KOing and recovery. He has good edgeguarding capability, just lacking a lil' in KO move variety, but the ones he does have are great. Dsmash hits front and back, Fsmash makes a nice horizontal arc, though it's kinda slow, and you can always gimp people off the top of the stage with Usmash, chasing them with Uair and a nice tornado at the end. Or you can just chase them off the edge of the stage, since his aerials lift him up a bit, you still get plenty of jumps for recovery and one of his b-moves.

As for Lucario, I can't play with him. Literally. My disc got scratched and now Lucario doesn't load. =|

Toon Link seems lighter than Link but he is actually the same weight class (Link was made a light weight in Brawl)

His A attacks are stronger, but shorter range than Link's. Also, his bomb is less powerful. Actually, his B attacks in general are less powerful. Although I much prefer Toon Link's boomerang.

The difference is massive in that Toon Link is a rigged character (Like Ike and Meta Knight) and Link is a gimped character.

Except that it's not accurate. Sonic isn't unlocked by playing the game for ten hours, and that was one of his biggest bitches. Everything can be unlocked through multiplayer, too (loads of shit is just play n brawls), so his big "lol u gotta play single player" is just wrong.

Then again I've never liked this guy's reviews, although that's partially because I can't stand his shit-eating backwards accent.

Smash isn't flawless and some of his points make sense (lucas, mostly), I'm not the kind of guy to go "lol the game's flawless", and I've had a few complaints on my own. But at the same time, it would be a bit nicer if he was able to review the game with the right information.

The only thing worse than a fanboy is an anti-fanboy who looks at Brawl only as a circlejerk and can't see that people really like it for being a pretty good fighter while being so incredibly simple.

I think I've come to love Yahtzee with what he's been saying about Earthbound and Mother 3. @_@;

I think that it was fun enough right out of the box, though, to justify some unlockable content. The only characters I'd cared about were already there, and all that. I even played through New Pork City a couple times in a bout of fanboyism that I'm fairly sure annoyed my buddy half to death before I realized that no matter how cool the Red Chimera was, the camera was too far out and the level design a little too haphazard for much awesomeness. :x

It wasn't like, say, Guitar Hero, where most of the game is missing until you beat the single player mode in Medium or better. :x

I think most of the minor issues are just problems he'd find with Melee as well... Specifically, cameras. Anyone who's played in Temple or New Pork City regularly without losing track of just who their character is obviously has Supermanvision or one of those strange HDTVs that look sweet but do strange things to regular signals and console games. :x

I might be indignant if I really cared about Brawl as anything more but a fun thing to do with a buddy (or a whole swack of internet buddies, I swear I'll get my friend code up someday,) but his Mother 3 comment dulled things enough to make me docile. :)

It's my one weakness -- say nice things about the Mother series and I'm much more willing to look the other way. :3

I don't own it, but I did rent it and I liked it.

Seems like it is more of a value with a pretty long(and fun) single player along with wi-fi matches.

I came late to this show. So i'll just give my own personal shpeal rather than discuss and then maybe i'll pick in from there

From the perspective of a guy who also plays and loves (till death do us part) the Guilty Gear series, Games like smash brothers hold an interesting place in my heart.

first: the general "i need to get this off my chest"

Smash brothers is not, was not, and will never be a real fighting game. It's a party/get together platforming game with fighter elements, even more so in the newest install ment. So stop turning off the items and playing final destination only matches. If you want to play a fighting game learn to quarter circle and get a damn coppy of SNK or somthing.

with regards to Brawl, love it. Even though you can really sense how much slower and deliberate the controlls were made, I think it helps the game greatly. The removal of stupid glitchey tricks like wave dashing makes the game instantly less stupid and As i play it i can actualy notice myself being more deliberate and strategic as i play rather than wildly bashing buttons and hoping to god it works out. The rebalancing of charachters, while it certainly pissed a few shiek players off, is welcome to me and i think massivly improved over melee, and i definatly apriciate that the duplicate charachters are less direct-coppies of their counterparts and have gained some indeviduality. I will say though that I am not a fan of them sharing Final Smashes. particularly having three charahcters with land master 9_9. I also would love to see a bit more fluidity in the online play, but nintendo really does need to get their whole online play act in gear because they really lack in that field and in a game like smash where the online element should be a welcome element, the lag and connectivity issues i've experiend have really turned me off to using online mode even at all.

Overall i defiantly enjoy this game so far.

Lucas is my bitch :D

i thought he made a lot of sense. mostly with the 'that guy' thing. its so fucking true (not only SSBB, which my friend is already good at, but any game really). you have to brave 1P mode by yourself, then you're 5x better than your friends, who no longer want to play it because youre too fucking good at the game. then you can only play other 'that guy's (i loved that one lol)

i also LO-FUCKING-L'd at this:

Yeah that was the only part of the review that I really liked, since it was so true and I can totally relate to it. I specifically remember one night when all these people were beating the shit out of me and laughing "oh god he's a monkey ahahahha a chimp versus a fat guy" and throwing items around and playing on HORRIBLE stages and I couldn't help but fall into the "fucking noobs with their items" that-guy mode.
