Skye's Last Stand

This is the LAST template I'm ever making. Ungh. But I have something I'm relatively happy with now as far as design and style are concerned. It's still a definite WIP, so please do no use it.

Here it is:

And a demonstration of it's capability on a simplistic scale with Arshes/Aluxes:

And a little urban type sprite on the go:

C and C welcome and encouraged.

I was about to reply to your PM but this is easier lol XD

He seems okay, but his face seems really pudgy and sad. I think it's because of how low his eyes are and how they're shaped. He also walks normally in frame 4 of the sideviews, but in frame 2, it looks like he's walkin' like a gangsta'. I also sort of wish his head was a liiiittle further from his torso. On the sideviews that looks fine, but on the frontview it looks like his chin is connected to his chest.

Cute palette :3. Wouldn't mind seeing one darker color in there, though, since the outline is so starkly contrasted to the rest of the body.

Care to elaborate? "Weird graphic style" just won't cut the mustard, I'm afraid. Stop posting in every thread just beacause you can. Please.

Personally it looks a little 'fat', for some reason. Try thinning by two pixels on each limb and the torso, but not the head. See how that goes.

I like it with a proper weight! People are too damn thin these days! Agh if I here one more "does my ass look big in this" comment I'm going to hit someone! As far as I'm concerned a slightly big butt is a good butt...

Anyway back to the template, the only real beefs I have with this are the side-view second frame for how his legs bend so much. The second is the front view and how his legs dip into the knees so much.

Other than that I like the unique style! Keep it up! (At least for this final template!) :thumb:

I think the problem is that most people on this forum seem to get caught up with proportion. As if 80% of sprites in commercial video games have proper proportions. Even look at Breeze. It's adorable, It's really just an ENORMOUS walking head, but it's acceptable, and even fun.

Thanks for the C and C thus far though.

*Edit:

Here's a little urban-ish guy I made. Not cleaned up yet.

Hey I like it a lot.  I don't have an issue with proportions either.  The front walking animation looks fine.  I think this is how the rtp should have looked.

The proportion is fine, though I still think you may have a problem with the side-view. Maybe you could make a .gif to demonstrate the side-view's walking?

I see what you mean. I'll have to play with a bit. Blah. I officially hate making templates now. I've done sooooo many I haven't even posted cause they're shyte.

The ears bug me a little. They seem a tad high on the side view, and they're nonexistent on the front view. But it would probably look funny with lumps sticking out of the head.

Yeah. I haven't found a way to put the ears on the front in an aesthetic fashion yet. But I didn't notice the ear height on the sideview. You're right. They are definitely too high. Thanks man.

The problem with the side view stepping frames is that his feet are flat on the ground. It makes it look like he's lunging or something. You'd want just the heel and toe to touch on those frames.

I have more to say but i'm tired and it will probably be inmcoherent i might do some edits later but dont hold me to it
