skill dividing user's health by 2

I'm trying to make a powerful ability which in turn takes 50% of the user's health. I thought this would work but it didn't do anything to his health. The use of the ability currently triggers this event.



How should it be done?
 
Try putting a Message event in that common event just to test if the common event is actually being triggered. You could even put \v[3] (I think that's the correct tag) in the message window to see what the hpset value is being set to.

I have used common events for similar things to what you're doing and it worked fine in my case.
 
I'm not sure other than maybe it's a bug with VX. I remember there being some problem with VX where setting the variable to certain parameters of a party member doesn't work.

You could put a post in RGSS support asking how you would do the same thing with a Script call and see if that works. If you're familiar with RGSS you could look through the Help file and maybe figure it out. I don't have VX so I can't help you there.
