Siris' Inferno

Death. The end of everything.
That is, unless you believe in some kind of afterlife.
Hell is one such afterlife, and it's probably the most unpleasant one.
The inhabitants are constantly tortured and maimed by demons.
It is either burning hot or icy cold, and the deeper down you go, the
worse it gets. The inhabitants shriek in agony while demons rule as they please.

Meet our protagonist, Siris. She is a pretty ordinary young girl.
But one day, her soul is stolen and cast into hell.
Now, if she wishes to keep living and evade having to spend eternity in hell,
she must travel the nine circles of hell and bring her soul back.

Siris' Inferno is going to be an adventure/puzzle game.
The game will be using original graphics and music custom-made for this game.
While there will obviously be some religion present, It's not going to focus on the religious aspects of hell at all.
Obviously there will be figures and enviroments FROM religion, but I'm not trying to sell any religion here.
I just want to make a awesome game in a awesome setting.

A young girl who lost her soul and now unwillingly
have to descend into hell. Inventive and easy-going.

Rehidiel
A bored succubus that helps Siris. The reason? According to Rehidiel she wants to see if a mortal will survive traversing hell.
Probably just looking for entertainment.

The story isn't the most original thing out there but Im sure you could do a lot with it. Im glad that you aren't going on some anti-religion speel in the game's story. Why does the character have to go through the nine circles of hell? I mean obviously to get her soul back but how will going through the nine circles of hell do that?
The character pictures are really really dark I can barely differentiate them and im using an extremely bright monitor; people with dark monitors are probably having an even rougher time.

I am super super glad you are using custom tiles but you should shrink your maps down considerably. Its not good to have a bunch of blank space because there is nothing interesting to catch. Its kind of like having a blank sheet of paper with characters on it. If you have big environments make sure that there is always something visually interesting to look at. The sprites and graphics also kind of clash but i dont think that is a big deal; I would rather see custom art and tile sets.

Is the game's movement tiles based?

The story presented here is just the basics (it's also not completely done). Hopefully it will catch your interest when playing it.

I'm aware of this, the screenshots are from unfinished areas. I'll keep your comment in mind, though.

Yes, it's tile based (32x32).
The fact that you ask that gives me the answer to a question I've had about how sucessfully I'm "breaking up the grid".

I have a new official website:

It will also serve as information center for all of my games, especially Siris’ Inferno. Screenshots, downloads, music and other goodies will be going there. There is also a blog which I will update with minor stuff like a new sprite and other things that I feel like sharing that isn’t important enough to clutter other places with.
