Silly roads

from what i've heard, spaghetti junction is like the worst in the world ... so i think you win before it's even started!

worst road i've ever been on was in new jersey (newark & the NJ turnpike)...

http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&cl ... 81525&z=11

it doesn't look terribly horrible from a map, but it's just so fucking random. the signs are so confusing. for every interstate connection, there's an 'A' version, too (which I had never seen before, so I was instantly lost after taking 29A instead of 29 ... but then there's no '29B' so what is the point in the 'A'??). Everything is a $6-$10 toll. If you have to get off and get back on, you're going to hit a 15-lane-wide toll. Then in the city streets just off the interstate, you are not allowed to make LEFT TURNS. Not even at lights. In Newark you have to make 3 fucking rights through residential areas one block down from your turn, just to make a left. Oh gog oh dear gog I hate NJ.

Oh, I got another one. I've driven through the I-95 mess here in FL before, too. And apparently it's one of the most dangerous interstates in the US (approx. 190 fatalities a year :x)

of course florida drivers are notoriously horrible.
it's all old people and foreigners
you'll never see more turn-signal abuse/misuse anywhere else

The Aston Expressway (branches off of Spaghetti Junc.)

Seven lanes each with a variable direction. They can and do open any lane in any direction.

what :X holy christ

you only need one single tourist in a hurry or a drunkie to make everyone there have a real bad time real fast :x

that sounds like literally the worst idea ever.

definitely nothing I can come up with that could compare with the insanity of that ^
the main reason why belgian roads can be dangerous is because of the few roads that are in terrible conditions.

the only real silly road here is the road that goes to the town of Silly.

A magic roundabout in Slough, I believe.

It's actually not silly at all - it's the best way to handle the traffic it gets.

But imagine being a tourist.

It's an island split into smaller islands. They all work like normal islands (we call them mini roundabouts). Basically what you're seeing is an island that works in two directions.

So you can do this:

Silly road near me:

Looks perfectly ok - until you realise if you stay on the road without taking a sliproad you actually leave the A454 and join the A463. :|

This junction does the same but far worse because:

m6toll.png

1. The M6Toll is like our only toll road
2. It goes in a completely different direction to the M6
3. You can't join the M6Toll from the south

All British roads are silly, everyone drives on the wrong side :P

Ain't too many silly roads in my area, but at one point my brother did get lost on a many-mile-long stretch of road, after he missed the exit. It took about 10 minutes before he could do a U-turn and return to the right place. This was all with a GPS, too :S

This is one of the most complicated pieces of road in my area (it's not at all very complicated, but it looks confusing i guess). It's the "Prins Clausplein" near Den Haag (The Hague).
The spagetthi junction is just madness, that's going to be tough to beat...
