Hello, community. I'm Link in Pink, and this is the first project I've made that has actually gotten my full attention. I'm sure some of you know of my other projects which are still being worked on....sort of. Anyway, Silent Nemesis is probably my best game so far, and I've decided to release it to the public for the first time. I included a short demo (Estimated time: 25 minutes) which should give you a taste of what the game is like and the features used in it. So enjoy! More information below.

In a small town there was an Orphanage that cared for children who had lost their parents. The children knew nothing of their pasts and grew up like brothers and sisters. One day during a game of hide-and-seek a strange robed figure captures the children. Well, all except one... A boy named Arshes escaped the stranger's kidnapping and vowed to get his friends back. But with no one to help him and no idea where they were...how could he get them back? So many thoughts ran through his mind... Why did he take them? What's his purpose? Why did he take them and not someone else? Arshes goes on a quest to save his friends, but as he later finds out, the situation appears to be bigger than just a simple kidnapping...

Note: The bold lines will be significant later on in the story.

Arshes is the main character of the game. As a child his friends were taken by a stranger, and he has vowed to become strong and get them back. He later finds out that the kidnapper's plans are much bigger than what he thought they were, and a small incident soon becomes a worldwide catastrophe that only Arshes can stop.

Trun rescued Arshes as a kid when he collapsed in the woods looking for his friends. He gave Arshes a home and trained him to use a sword. He sends him to a tournament at the Castle to become stronger.

The Silent Nemesis kidnapped Arshes' friends, but what does he plan to do with them? But a simple kidnapping is not the Silent Nemesis' real crime. It seems impossible for Arshes to find someone that can't be heard, seen, smelled, or sensed, but the brave youth is determined nonetheless.

The first boss emerges! This bird knocks the buggy and the two guys are thrown from it as the horses flee. The driver, Sam, is taken by the bird and Arshes chooses to rescue him.

The bird has minions! This is Arshes' first taste of real combat.

Honestly, you have to play the next demo to see this cutscene in all of it's majesty lol. By the way, little spoiler here:

The Silent Nemesis has something to do with the bird. =O

-ccoa for the Universal Message System (UMS)
-arevulopapo for the Particles Engine
-Rataime for the Mirror Effect and Shadows scripts.
-MogHunter for those epic menus and graphics.
-The Doctor for some graphics and a bit of eventing code.
-Anybody else whose graphics I used and I forgot the names of. :sad:

If you see a sprite I used, let me know so I can credit you :wink:

NOTE: The Title Screen is undergoing changes, so until I get them worked out, the script still uses the title for the XAS battle system. PLEASE IGNORE THAT. Also, there are 2 save files that are placed at the end of the demo in case you want to bypass the hole thing. If there are any mapping errors or eventing errors, please let me know so that I can fix them in the next release. THANK YOU

That was the lighthearted part of the game, when Arshes leaves the town, things start picking up. :smile:

And I haven't decided if Arshes will be the only one in the party through the whole game, but for the first big chunk, yes he is. :wink:
 
Seems like a cool story line!
Although the fog your using is bad.
Good luck with your game, I will download a little later and try it.
 
A pedophile gobbled up Arshes friends, and he's going to go rush into his imminent buttsecks? Totally original storyline I suppose.. I mean in that context.. you know the unprovoked bad guy does some stuff for no reason and only one guy can stop em' angle.. well not so much.

Actually the Silent Nemesis does have a motive, and the kidnapped children play a key role. In the Story spoiler the bold lines indicate importance ;)

I really like the way the story is going   :smile:

the tileset and maps are very well presented 5/5 from me   :thumb:

Story is well planned out IMO and I think this is going to be a really good game

I also likes the zelda open treasure chest thing when you put the boxes on the switches  :wink:


Bad points :dead:

It laggs abit outside Trun's house maybe you could split the map into 4 or 2 ?

some of the tiles which shouldn't be walked through can be there are a few (you may want to go around testing)

the field 1(or 2) theme song plays in Truns house it doesn't really seem the best theme for the house but it changes when you re enter (mistake?)


Improvements :tongue:

not much really just if you could change the bits in the bad points bits.

also maybe when showing the maps of where the people are placed you could use a handwriting font unless you wanted it like that

thats all from me I hope you carry this out till the end I want to find out what happens

I realize that the town map is rather large, thus making it lag. I'll try to fix that with a smaller map. Also there were some typos in the game which I've fixed along with those random impassable tiles. :D (Oh and that music error  :thumb:)

I have a new demo waiting, but I'm going to hold off releasing it for a little while. Maybe in a week or two. The action literally starts right at the end of the first demo I have posted.

The "I am everything you fear" Screen Shot was so cheesy that I almost died laughing. But anyways, I enjoyed the demo :)
 
This looks awesome, LIP..I would love to help, I am an Event master (If you don't know) and I can help with the database and cutscenes :thumb:
