Shows you watched as a kid

When I was a kid there used to be some really good shows on. Now we get shit like "the naked brothers band". What shows did you enjoy watching as a kid?

For me, every morning i would wakeup around 6 AM, get ready for school, and watch Zoids at 6:30 AM. Man that was such an awesome show. And it was the good one BTW.

When I was a kid, it was all about ThunderCats and those VERY early shows on Nickelodeon like You Can't Do That on Television (of course, looking back, that was a terrible show).

I can't remember most of them. When I was a little older though there were two Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon series (one silly, one more serious, like the comics) that I liked a huge amount. I think there's been like 3 more Sonic series since then but they stunk pretty hard.

Also when I was nearly a teenager, Nickelodeon went through that game show phase where there were like 10 game shows every day, like Double Dare and Legend of the Hidden Temple and GUTS. I watched them but it got old fast. I'd usually watch one then pop in the Sega Channel to play (anyone remember how sweet that was?).

Oh, and that Ghostbusters cartoon and Batman: The Animated Series. And Inspector Gadget. Those were sweeeet.

(Also ... Well if you're talking about shows from 2000 ... You're technically still a kid)

I used to dance every time they did the video challenge.  I was also a huge fan of the Mario Brothers shows (and I have all of them on DVD).  Sonic the Hedgehog (saturday morning and the DiC version) were fantastic too...

...Man, video games had some awesome toons back in the days.  Even better were the cartoons based off of comic books.  Prince Valiant was way ahead of its time, Maxx was fantastic, Duckman was hilarious, Batman the animated series is pretty much the  GOD of American animation, and the original FOX X-men cartoon was...

man i'm about to have an orgasm right here.

Missing picture, Justice? :P

OH MAN Marcus, I forgot all about the X-Men Cartoon! That was badass. Moar Gambit!

Was anyone into Duck Tales and Darkwing Duck like I was? I used to run home every day to watch Duck Tales, because it came on right at 3pm and I got out of school at 2:40. Then was Ghostbusters :D

Best shows ever, too bad most of them aren't aired anymore. :(

I pretty much liked the same shows, but to add on:
> Dexter's Laboratory
> Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (That show was stupid beyond belief, but it's better than the crap that was spewed out later. :D)
> The Chipmunks.

There was a time when Disney said "enough with these cheaply animated toons" and made a slew of awesome cartoons including Gummi Bear Adventures, Tail Spin, Goof Troop, Duck Tales, and Darkwing Duck.  Yes, I loved all of them and I am completely pissed off that Disney has liquidated their animation department in favor of... ugh, CGI.  As much as I love Pixar for making good movies I hate them for starting this generic CGI movement.

I mean, THIS IS HOW AWESOME DUCK TALES WAS (read her prison number).  The fact that Hewey/Dewey/Louie is smoking a cigar would have gotten this show "banned" if they aired it today.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the slew of "tongue-in-cheek" cartoons that made fun of pop culture but didn't talk down to you including:

1: Tiny Toons (INSTANBUL, ONCE CONSTATINOPLE)
2: Bonkers (I never could figure out if this was a Roger Rabbit spinoff)
3: Animaniacs ("Hey!  Hands off my bust!")

All the Nickelodeon shows for sure.  Transformers, Silverhawks, Thundercats, Pinwheel, He-Man, GI Joe, X-Men, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends and a bunch of other stuff.  Cartoons were so cool back in the 80's.  Marvel had a number of superhero cartoons then.  Iron Man, Hulk, Fantastic Four.  Nowadays, it seems like most shows just try to be kind of gross.

And I'm with you Marcus, I kind of miss the normal animated movies, but we only get the computer generated films now.  Kind of sad in a way.

Animation > CGI. Always.

Marcus those were all great, thanks for reminding me of them! I never even noticed that reference in Duck Tales XD

oh wow Duck Tales and Darkwing Duck I forgot to include those shows, those are my all time favorite shows. X-men was a great show too, Gambit is my favorite Marvel char next Thor and Spider-man.

Oh my god I hate how CGI has taken over. While the principles of animation are still within it, it's just so overused, and a lot of the designs do not look very unique. I'd kill to see a good animated film nowadays.

Am I missing something with that Ducktales prison number?  What is the significance?

It's a reference to her measurements.  38 inch breasts, 22 inch waists, 38 inch hips.
