I agree with The_JSTREET. The storyline was totally lackluster. The gameplay kept me interested though because you can actively kill everything on the map without transitioning to some lame "we're all having a battle now" map.

Another thing that weirded me out was that little sprite thing was a dude. I totally thought that it would be a girl, because it just looked like a girl to me. That was disappointing.

I never beat the game either. I got to the big Mana Beast at the end and it totally annihilated me. I think you're supposed to use some special item to fight it, but it would never work for me. I didn't really care too much after a while, because the story never really drew me in. Bleh.

A completely average game, entirely too easy to exploit(just keep using your summons one after another). I never understood why it was such a praised game. Other than creating a genre of mediocre gameplay, what did it really accomplish? SD3 actually had a unique dynamic to it worthy of praise, but SOM was just average allaround-- even for the time.

Seiken Densetsu was a great series (and still is ^^) and also considering it was one of Square's early "non-traditional" RPGs the story was decent, the gameplay was very fun, the final boss annoyed me till I remembered how to exactly fight it lol.
