Hello, HBgames. I've joined a couple of amateur game-making websites over the past few days, but this is probably the first I'll really be involved in because I used to have an account here ages ago back when it was still rmxp.org.
I'm a junior at OU and a history major, with an adoration for writing, travel, cultural studies, and mythology. So far I'm not particularly well traveled; outside of the United States I've been fortunate to attend trips to Tokyo and Kyoto so far, but I'm going to take a long tour around Europe when I graduate and I can't wait! I've always been a fashion nerd as well, and one of my favorite hobbies is making clothes of my own design and scouring thrift stores for items to alter and make fresh. I'm an amateur artist at best and an even newer pixel artist, but I'm looking forward to contributing to those forums.
Most of my experience is with older games, so my favorites probably seem a bit dated by today's standards. Most of my favorites are the older RPG's of the PC, Nintendo, and Playstation one and two years, but I would like to broaden my horizons and I would welcome suggestions. I've thought about getting a newer console sometime, but I doubt I'd even know where to begin.
I think part of the reason I'm interested in writing and RPG design as hobbies is for the appeal of creating fictional countries, cultures, clothing, and mythology. I mentioned that I was a member of rmxp.org before, meaning that I've had the inclination to make a game before, got too ambitious and over my head, and ultimately gave up after making little to no progress when school became more involving. I'm older and wiser now, so I'd like to think I can pace myself better and the same thing won't happen. My "game" that I want to ultimately make is a barely a wisp of an idea right now, but I'm trying to not set my sights on anything too ambitious until after I mess with a few different programs and get a feel for things.
Even though I did all this before, it's been a few years so it all feels pretty new. I'm looking forward to giving all of this another try.
