script question

im trying to figure out scripts and i just cant figure out how to get them to work can someone please explain it to me...do i download them to the rmxp file or do i download them and install them somehow its all very confusing any help you can give would be great

If you get a demo then you can download it open it on rpg maker xp, If it doesn't open and says that there is incompatability between versions then I suggest that you get the legal version [URL=http://www.enterbrain.co.jp/tkool/RPG_XP/eng/download.html]here. So you open it go to the script's editor copy the script(s) and then go to the editor in either your game or in a new project to test it, copy it there and voila it's done. If you copy a script off the site the just copy it make a new page in the script editor and copy it there, if you're wondering how to do that then just press "insert" above main or wherever you need to insert the script.

Hope that helped.

Not necessarily. There are illegal versions that use the orangish icon as well. The easiest way to tell is if you get a pop-up telling you how many days of the trial you have left. Then you have the legal version. I'm assuming you haven't paid for it because people generally know what they have paid for. If you don't get that box, it is an illegal version.

To actually answer your question, you can open up the script editor by pressing the icon on the toolbar (pencil and paper) or by pressing F11. You can edit existing scripts there or add a new one by right clicking a script on the bar on the left-hand side of the window and clicking insert. You can then copy and paste a script from the internet.
