I am working on the foundation of an game with RMXP. Basically, I want the game to work a little bit like the Shining Soul series of games. Never played Shining Soul? Okay then, I'll give you a quick rundown.
At the beginning of the game, you choose the character class you want. You are also able to set the name of your character as well as a palette for him to be viewed with. In-game gameplay consists of you as your character traveling to each of the dungeons, getting to the end, where a boss waits, killing it, and repeating. The combat system is Legend of Zelda-esque in the sense that your character runs around on the map, you push the attack button, he attacks it, and the number of damage you did appears over the enemy's head. After enough hits, the enemy dies, revealing the amount of EXP it gave you and occasionally drop an item or two. Upon leveling up, you are given two separate types of points: stat points and skill points. You get 4 stat points per level, which you can use to add one point to your stats to turn him whichever direction you'd like. You get one skill point which determines what skills you have, and how powerful skills you already have are.
My game, however, will run a little differently. There will be a world map where you can travel from town to town and dungeon to dungeon, so no dungeon selection map is required. I do want the character to be customized at the beginning of the game, in terms of appearance and class. I also want the battle system like the Legend of Zelda. After all of this, I realize that there will be a problem with the current menu, so I need a menu that works with a single person. I want there to be a skill menu/item menu that can pop up outside of the battles that RMXP would normally include. And, if possible, I would like the weapon animations to be different with the weapon equipped for each class.
My question overall is where/what all scripts will I need to complete this task. It's a bit hefty, I know, but I think it would pay off in the end.
I already have tested and liked the Easy Character Creator Script, but don't know how to change the different armors, weapons that appear on the character, etc. What should I edit to make it adapt to my game?
I have seen, but have not tested, too many of the LoZ type battle systems, so which script should I get and why (if possible)?
I want to know where I can find a skill and stat point assignment script, if one exists, however the way I plan to do this may not work with one of the existing scripts out there.
So thank you to all who have read through this huge hunk of text, I appreciate your looking into this. If there are any links to people/sites that contain one of these kinds of scripts, as well as how to edit them to adapt to my game, then please, do not hesitate to let me know.
