Screwy volume control!

So in my volume control window I have my Wave|SW Synth|CD Player|Volume Control all at the same level, really low. So I make a windows media player song list and start playing. Here's me: "Good good.... okay song is almost over still good...... WHAT THE HELL!!!!! Ahh my ears!!" So when the next song started, the SW Synth went up by itself a lot. How can I lock it so it only changes when I want it to?

Well first off it shouldn't be changing unless you change it, it's not like you can program a song to self-adjust volume. Are you sure you aren't accidentally hitting a button somewhere?

Nope! An all of the songs are WAV files. So I listened to I'm still alive mp3 and that didn't change the volume!?!?! So How do I convert my WAVs to MP3s?

Well another thing is SW Synth shouldn't be moving, that volume control is only for MIDIs. I don't know, sounds really weird to me. You can grab any number of different encoding softwares to convert from wav to MP3, I prefer CDEX, which also does CD ripping. It's very fast and lightweight and has a non-obnoxious interface and plenty of customization options (and I've been using it for like 10 years and it still works well). There are probably a half million other options too.
