Samus Aran

Hm, seems like I got my first characterset up... too bad it's most likely of no use for anyone XD Well, it was just a just-for-fun job to waste some time in the afternoon... I don't think that I'm going to hack my Lufia 2 cardridge XD (I shamelessly used that game's style as a reference, which is also the reson why it's so itty bitty small ^_^ )

Well, here it comes...

I might do some other SNES folks, as it's really cool to sprite in that style... well, we'll see...

Thanks for your input, glad you like it.

@Ryanna: Well, you could always double their size, as RM2k3 tiles have a size of 16x16 (just as the SNES ones, and there are a couple of Lufia 2 tilesets around already...) and RMXP uses 32x32 tiles... if you want to keep their size, you'd need to script it to 320x240 display (using Selwyn's script, for example) and somehow get the tiles to be displayed on a 16x16 grid... too bad the Tilemap class is hidden...

Well, I guess when I'm bored somewhen again, I'll make more, yeah... until then, mainly because I can't see a particular usage, but also because I'm not a good spriter and take ages till something is finished, I won't do the complete army ^_^

For the tilemap class, Kuri$u just told me about a rewrite from Seph, and I already tested it.. it works fine. So everything you'd need is a resolution script (unless you want 40x30 tiles to be displayed at once... ^_^ ), the tilemap rewrite for zooming tiles down to 16x16, and of course a slight edit to the movement system.

:D Oh?

Too bad Wyatt gave up on Final Fantasy: Uncertain Destinies, this could have helped... Unless that's not why he quit... :/

Now those are great for like a SD(Super Deformed) RPG that uses a lot of old SNES characters and the sort.
Well guess it's time for me to find some tile sets to go with them.

I could use this for one of my projects...

Anyway, one minor little thing I noticed. When she's facing right, the first frame is mid-step, while when she's facing left, the first frame isn't. Now, I remember Lufia 2 having somewhat funky sprites in that each direction only has 2 frames, but I don't remember it being like that. Just a minor thing.

Also, good to see that her gun arm isn't visible in both side views. With her gun arm, she isn't symmetrical, and you got that down.

(By the way, you said something about Lufia 2 tilesets somewhere...are there any available? I've been looking for some for a while now.)

Thanks for all you guys input ^_^

@Armor: Yeah, I noticed the frame mismatch, too... I didn't intended it to be this way, I just flipped the sideview and this is what I got for it... ^_^

For the tilesets, there are a couple of them out as RM2k or RM2k3 resources, but searching non-RM-related sprite collection sites, you should be able to find additional ones... lastly, I ripped some of them myself and got a couple of tilesets from it, so if I can dig them out, I'll give 'em to you ^_^

I might have some Lufia 2 Tilesets that is for the RM2K3 on a small cd, just gotta put the tile sets in a folder in my ever growing 1 gig rmxp stuff.

Well, you of course need to convert them to RMXP tileset format... or rewrite the tilemap class, which'd be pretty dumb, though, as RMXP's format is like ten times better. ^_^ If you have some, I can do them, though they could even be set with Paint... ^_^

BTW, I made a little script doing what I wrote above... just fixing some minor things up... expect it tomorrow or something like that.

I love it to death! I completely adore it! Gah, I sound like a woman ranting about her new puppy.......... Anyways, your going to make a template like that. No buts. Your going to.

@Kiniko: That's the style of Lufia 2, a game for the SNES... I could make a template, let's see what the outcome of the day will be... ^_^'

@SamusK: Your signature misses a project link for me to check, but if you intend to use it, feel free to ^_^

EDIT: Here's your template ^_^
