The sprite needs allot of work. Try making the edges of the garments rounder ,straying away from the straight lines at the waist, wrists and ankles. Remember, not only are you looking at it from a bird's eye view, but the sprite is cylindrically shaped. It's not a gingerbread man.

You also need to work on choosing a palette with allot more contrast. Your palette's colors are so similar to each other that you can barely see the shading you did do.

As for the tileset, that last highlight (the lightest one) just successfully made your tree flat. Lose it, and just lighten up the second lightest shade a bit. the 'shroom looks more like a side view that overhead view, mostly because you shaded it like you did the tree, making it appear two dimensional. Lastly, the cliffs need work. They are FAR too geometric to be natural , and the texture at the sides look more like wood that rock or dirt.
 
It's a good wooden texture on the cliff btw. If you try to do wood, do it that way ;D

usually, stony things, like rocks or cliffs aren't that even. They contain small rocks and are more clusterly.
i like the tilesets style, but the character really needs work. The clothes look like bodypaintings! Give him more baggy clothes.
