Ruins [WIP] (PA)

Just breaking unto the world of tileset making. I rembered lord of the rings and how cool it looked when they were in the boat and were going between those two giant statues. Im making a ruin tileset just like that with lots of statues and cool stuff lying around. Heres what I just sprited up. Two of the first giant statues.

Im also doing giant face statues, and those creepy little baby statues that romans like so much.

Wow, i like the look on the apollo statue. You have some real talent. The shading is very good. The only thing is the dark grey stuff below it, is that a continuation of the statue (just shaded) or the actual shadow? I Don't know if you're going for the "ruin" look as much on it, but the arm seems to be a bit to dark, it doesn't seem to cut off as cleanly as the ref picture's arm does. On another note, the statues seem to be pretty good, but they seem to be just a copy (and flip) of the other one. In real life, especially in ruins, the statues would be slightly worn, perhaps make them a little more odd. I always think old worn statues make an RPG game ^_^

I cleaned up apollo's arm and added some color and cracks to the david statues so they look different.

I think it's too coloured and detailed to go with most, if not all of the current tileset styles and sprites.

wow dude, those statues are good and very well shaded, if all those are scratch, then it your good at that kind of spriting or pixel art

Ill make an entire game with insane deatiled tilesets and then you all will see, you all will
see !!!!!
Or ill just make a bunch of detailed tilesets instead
Maybe a template of an anatomicly correct person. hmmmm

Nice. <3 <3 <3 the statues, maybe add some moss? Remember, stains/moss/etc tend to hide in the cracks and creases of statues first.

Like the new statues. You're a very good spriter. Are you sure if this is your first work?
I'm encouraging you greatly to make a tileset. Dare i say it, but if you can make a worldmap tileset, it might even be as good as the one on http://www.rpg-palace.net

oh cool! It's a pity i'm making a stargate game, otherwise i'd almost definitely use these!
Something about the spears (or whatever they are :P) that the two statues are holding (3rd set down), the spears are a little to straight. Maybe have one of them snapped off and lay on the ground? either way.

Wow! I want to see more. Plan on any females?
While you're obviously making statues to go side by side (David statues), the statues being mirrored like that looks strange to me. My advice is to add differences to the shapes of the statues that go side by side, such as the feet. Also, the golden version of the polearm wielder looks like he needs more meshing to fit with the other golden piece. Just my opinion.
The shading is just lovely. I would like to see a completed tileset in SDS. Keep up the awesome work!
