Awesome Bro

TBS > RTS in EVERY Aspect in my opinion... can't say I've played an RTS that comes close to Final Fantasy Tactics or the Disgaea games... they're just too good to be beaten, especially Disgaea, those games have some of the craziest skills in a game ever...

*Throws a penguin (Prinny) and watches it explode*

*Pushes a chunk of the battlefield into the sun*

*Summons a comet, jumps into the air and rides it to the ground*

Yeah, you see what I mean ?

It really depends. Real-time strategy games are all about building your base as fast as possible so you don't get crushed by the enemy, but I find turn-based games allow me a more measured and reasoned approach.

To me RTS is better. You can flank units, do coordinated attacks, and you have to be on your toes at all times. You can't take evasive actions on a turn based game, or force fire in front of a unit's path. RTS games are way faster, and real life is not turned based. You can feel like a real general commanding your forces, while planning your next attack...

Please watch this video of my favorite RTS game in the whole Universe. This might help people with their choice.
The battle is actual game play... (also the best nuke of any RTS game ever created)

I prefer Turn based games when they are in space. Master of Orion 2 is the most tactical turn based game I ever played. Turn based games might require more "brains". Waiting 150 turns for one unit is depressing for me

It depends on the type of game. When it comes to empire management, hands down turn-based is the superior format. Tactics and on-the-fly decisions, however, are more effective in RTS. This is especially true with defending your base, as it's quite hard to do in a TBS game, where it's quite easy in an RTS environment.

And when you try to, you are at the mercy of whatever shoddy AI--targeting, pathfinding, or otherwise--the programmers have made.

This really is an unfair question; as has been said not nearly enough times in this thread, you need to consider the context. They are two entirely different genres and this is like asking "HAY WITCH IZ BETR RPGZ R GRADIUS!!!!!!!!2!!"

v You're seriously playing the nerdrage card when you're nitpicking about how I said "Gradius" instead of "shoot-'em-up"?

Kuahewhatthefuckdoesyournamesay...

It's completely fair, what you're suggesting is that he's asking which is better between a genre and a game, since RPG is a genre, and Gradius is a game, now THAT is an unfair comparison

However, he's asking which is better between two genres, which are RTS and TBS, and everyone has given legit answers, and then you come in with your gay nerd rage boner and unpronouncable name, and gone "BLARGH" all over.

Kuahewa huki 'ino, You do know what that implies right? You just got pwned by Hybrida in reasoned debate...
