RTP stlye battler

This is based of a Franken/recolor sprite I made. It's in the NPC pac #1. I really like how she turned out.
I've been doing a lot of RTP style battlers lately.
I've been toying with the idea of opening a request station to make battlers for everyone. But since the forums been buggy I've been helping out in the resource request threads instead.

work on the shading.. it's waaaaayy of. instead of using dodge and burn tool use the brush to shade, just pick a darker tone of the base colour.

EDIT: the outlines look irregular too.

I never used the dodge or burn tool, I picked the colors off the sprites and smudged and blurred the tones together. Then I add white in places like the hair and metal and stuff.
Your right, the shadows on the green guy are off. And I didn't even shade the girl's shirt top half.
thanks for pointing that out

ohw sorry, I thought you used the burn and dodge because the shades are a too dark on the outside, and because the highlights are white instead of lighter colours.

theyre a good start but need some work. mostly shading, and some of the outlines. and like you mentioned yourself the eyes could be better especially on the girl

I took green raven's words to heart and tried mu best to fix the shading.
I also changed the eyes a little bit. I'll clean up the outlines before its finished.
Someone tell me if the girls cape is too dark.

I also need to name these characters. I just call them greenguy and bluelady.
Maybe I should call them ScrollUser01 or something fitting like that.

I'd recommend working on the drawing before working on the rendering >> so many people seem to think that good coloring will hide messy drawings and it just doesn't.

I'm sorry I'm being harsh but it drives me insane. major pet peeve.

I didn't think they were that messy. I sketched them to scale and traced with the pin tool. Maybe I should start bigger and scale them down? The only problem is that the characters can look bigger or smaller then the rest If i'm not carefull when I do that.

Heres a matching battler to go with the Scroll girl. I tried drawing on a larger scale and resizing it to keep it cleaner. I haven't softened the inside lines yet, so they look pretty dark. Hes got a doppy look to him, I might redo his eyes.

There needs to be more of the angular anime-style going on. The lines are also too black.
Don't use the sprites for color reference... these aren't 32-pixel high so lots of other colors can be used.
Try what Lonesight suggested and look at some anime anatomy.

But I really do like your ideas. Keep working on them, please.
