RPG Makers Recommend Music

Regardless of your opinions on Kanye West's own music, there's no denying he's one of the most important and innovative hip-hop producers of the day...I mean, he's even been one of the producers for Nas' more recent work...

Being an emcee is completely different from being a producer.

I gotta say the only rap I like at all is Run DMC.

That aside, does anybody else listen to comedy when RPG making? Podcasts are very very good when it comes to map-making, or anything else in general - I personally couldnt live without weekly updates from Russell Howard, Russell Brand, Jonathan Ross, Chris Moyles and the Friday Night Comedy Podcast. Oh, also Fawlty Towers, the Mighty Boosh radio show, and Bill Baileys standup are also good to listen to. For music, at the moment for me its blues. Howlin Wolf anyone?

I'm gonna have to recommend some AFI, just because they're my favourite. ^.~

Hm... anything else? Nightwish (with new singer and old... Anette isn't THAT bad, people.).

Daft Punk, all the way.
Kamelot.
Korpiklaani is much fun.
Uhr... others. That's what I usually listen to while making RMXP stuffs.

I tried it on GH3 and I sucked so bad... >.<
Hehe. I like Miss Murder, but my favourite song by far is "Midnight Sun"... mm-hmm.

Symphony X, Genesis, King Crimson, Frank Zappa and Chris Potter. The first one is metal, then, except for Chris Potter (jazz), the rest is...well, weird. What can I say.

Etheon: Those are all awesome bands/artists, especially KC and Zappa, though I haven't heard of Chris Potter. With you having musical taste like that, I'll definitely check him out.

Anyway, I'd have to recommend Indukti, Riverside, and Gazpacho. All are awesome prog bands from Poland, except for Gazpacho, they're from Norway. And of course Porcupine Tree, but it seems like more and more people are finding out about them these days so it's somewhat redundant saying it.

Actually, you'd have to like Jazz for Chris Potter to enrapture you.

If you like the previous bands, however, then I heartily recommend Gentle Giants, Jethro Thull and The Mars Volta.

Already love all of those bands (though I'm not as familiar with Jethro Tull as the others). :) Van Der Graaf Generator is also among my favorite bands, and when it comes to "weird" (though I don't think it's weird anymore since I've gotten used to them), VDGG wins outright.

And I do like some types of jazz. My jazz taste tends toward Charlie Hunter, Joshua Redman, Tribal Tech, and some other assorted stuff... so I'm not sure if he's in the same vein or not. I'll still check him out though. I got a glut of iTunes gift certificates for Christmas, so I've been meaning to check out a bunch of music, I just haven't had time since school just got back in for me.

Bring Me the Horizon, Saosin, From First To Last, Alexisonfire, Within Temptation, Hedley, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Pantera, Skillet, The Unseen, Dream Theater, and many more...

Tool, or A Perfect Circle. Best bands ever.

A Perfect Circle are alright, but I wouldn't regard them as one of the 'best'. Although, it is obviously down to opinion. I'd name Oasis and Audioslave as two of the best bands ever.

No one will like the music I suggest, but i'll post It anyways.

Thrash:
Megadeth, because Dave is the guy who invented the hard stuff in metal
Pantera, because of Dimebags great riffs
Sepultura, because they inspired the early death metal bands

Melodeath:
Soilwork, because they have awsome melodies.
Mors Principium Est, because of their melodic and technical skills
Arch Enemy, because of great guitars and vocals
In Flames (Only pre-Clayman), because of the melodies.
Children of Bodom, because the guitars are simply amazing.

Death metal:
Cannibal Corpse, because of the brutality
Necrophagist because of awesome melody, technique and brutality.

Black metal:
Immortal, because of great lyrics
Satyricon, because they rock
Enslaved, because of the musical feeling
Finntroll, because of trolls and folk music influences

Punk/Hardcore/Grind:
Cheap sex, because of great lyrics (especially "Fuck emo")
Napalm Death, because they're awsome
Bad religion, because they are a decent punk band and not some emo posers

For video game music, I suggest peeps check out the Jet Set Radio (a.k.a. Jet Grind Radio) soundtrack, as well as the Shenmue soundtrack. Although the latter has a much better effect when playing in-game.
