[RPG] A couple songs I've made

Hey, these are a couple of songs I've been working on for my game, Nocturnal Destiny. They're midis I converted to mp3s. The sound is pretty crappy, but they are only rough copies. I plan on adding more to them and making better versions with a keyboard and a guitar. I just want to get some opinions on them first, and see if its worth the effort. Hope ya like em!

hm. i'm thinking nocturnal destiny is really cool, but it's totally marred by the cheesy guitar synth. its probably gonna sound much better with live guitar. it sounds pretty cool other than that, and would probably make a neat title theme for a dark gothic themed game.
also, the bass has a bit too much of a pop, and it kinda sticks out among the smooth strings and everything.

hope is really nice! i like it, but its so short and it'd be great to hear you expand upon it. not much else to say, but it sounds pretty neat right now.

nightfall is the best one. it sounds really cool, but again its so short, and a full version will probably be much cooler. its more than a good start for a song.


good stuff, dude. you definitely nailed the castlevania-esque sound, and without making it suck. :}

Thanks man! I really appreciate your advice, and your compliments for that matter. I'm still tweaking around Nocturnal Destiny. I'm either gonna use real guitar, or just change the instrument. Haven't decided yet. I agree with you on the bass, I should've noticed that before, but of course lots of things changed when I converted from midi to mp3.  :pissed: It made some of my instruments quiter and some louder, and added sustain to everything.

There's a lot more to Hope. I just made a short midi of it to see what people thought. I'm really glad you like it!

Nightfall is my favorite. I'm actually working on the full song right now. Still thinking about which direction to take it in, though.

I really do appreciate you reply. It's exactly what I was hoping for. I should have the full versions up soon. I have a guitar pedal with a built-in 8-track recorder, but I lent that to a friend until Monday for a school project. So, I can probably get full versions within next week. Once again, THANKS!

i wouldn't very quickly suggest using a different instrument all-together for the guitar part, because i think it adds a cool effect in contrast to the string sections. its just that guitar synths usually sound really cheesy. @_@

whenever you manage to finish/rework these, you should post them. i'm interested to see how you develop on them :}
