RomStation.org - Your favorite emulation resource

You know, that niche idea could be pretty good. Perhaps specializing in RPG Roms, or a certain type of ROMs, or rare ROMs, pre-patched stuff, etc., that could be really neat.

Ah, if you're using a hosting service in your country you might be okay then.  I'm no expert on law in the Netherlands but you guys seem to be pretty good at resisting U.S. political pressure and that's how most of the overseas gray-area sites end up getting shut down (see the "Steal This Film" part 1 & 2 documentaries for instance).

In any case good luck, be sure to post again when you have done some more work, I would love to see what you come up with. :)
I'm using BlueHost. =/

Well, I made a rating system, it's fully working. You can try it out here.

I still have to optimize it (only allowing one rate per file per IP, etc).

I heard something about Mario and Donkey Kong being ESA protected, what happens if I don't remove the Mario roms I have on my site?

Yeah, they started cracking down on roms that are downloadable on the Wii Shop Channel.
Though I've never hosted roms so I don't know to what extent.

Couple of things:

The emulators page is broken. When I click on one, it always gives me 404 errors. Well, I assume it's not broken, but rather you don't have the files; I'd suggest, for emulators, to simply link to the official website's download page, and on your page, put a review, rating, a quick description, etc.

You don't really need to provide a mirror for an emulator, since it's already hosted somewhere safely.

Also, your BSnes version is outdated; current one is 0.030.

To keep up with other PSX, GBA and such emulators, I'd suggest giving a look at NGEmu.com and see what they list; they've got a huge list of "new-gen" (not next-gen) emulators. Just borrow theirs ;)

Also, the Java Chat appears to be broken; I got a NumberFormatException. And the title of the Java Chat page is still "GamingDimension.net". As such, all the links are broken (well, the php includes are broken).

Last, when I type something in the search box, the text is a little too dark; it's viewable, but it could use some lighting up.

Fixed the emulators, I did actually have the files, but I forgot I started using the index.php for the ROM/emulator lists as well so I forgot to update the emulators page. I will update the emulators, since I switched web hosts, I've had to move all the files, which is why I haven't been able to add new ROMs/emulators. I might use your 'link to the official page' idea.

I took down the chat since it isn't used by anyone anyway. And I can see the text in the search box very clearly, I'd say making it lighter would just make it less visible?

Thanks for the tips.

I like the Luigi-burglar.  He looks like he's prepped to go download some pirate copies of his ungrateful brother's uber-successful games.

Yeah, he's awesome.

My friend told me I should make a PHP script that cycles between characters randomly. Thoughts?

OK, now I need some characters. I was thinking of Link and a couple of other Nintendo characters.

P.S. Some of the files I host are really large (i.e. PSX ROMs), I was wondering if I should continue uploading them or just put them on hosting sites like MediaFire?
