By rock synth i take it you want guitars and the like...... The best method to achieve convincing guitars is to use a clean guitar sample and pass it through guitar amp sims like amplitube Metal, Guitar Rig and the likes. If you're not the type that like to complicate themselves, perhaps you could try out this one, wich is pretty good IMO

If you meant the whole deal of a rock band perhaps EastWest's colossus could be a good solution for you, although it's more expensive then MOR.......

Yes they exist... only they're not free, wich is sad but with a little effort I'm sure you can find some "free edicational version" somewhere.....(audionews, perhaps)
