Man I used to love this show as a kid.

They've started rerunning it on Dave, and man, it's all either kids or middle-aged men with beards

Still, I love Craig Charles. Didn't even know who Lister was back then.

Yeah, I loved it too. Why the fuck did they cancel it? If the wars are still going then maybe it was ratings. If the wars aren't still going then that explains it.

Well, it moved to Channel 5, who didn't really want to do much with it.

Plus Mr. Psycho and Growler were wastes of space and stupidly designed.

But what of the contests themselves. Surely they must still be going on.

The trademarks were bought out by an independant who now runs a smaller, annual, non-televised contest.

I remember when g4 was this show and x-play from time to time (and screensavers of course :x). That was back before g4 got huge and started to suck shit (web soup anyone?)

ha yeah i watched that and battlebots when they did it on comedy central before it got canceled.
haven't seen anything recent.
and yeah idg what G4 is doing anymore ... they just show COPS reruns all the time. the only show that's worth anything is attack of the show. which yeah is basically web soup (but so is tosh.0)

I used to love this show so much. We used to record it back when there were VCRs and I still have I think the first, Im not sure. The only thing I remember was really that one competitors robot who's moto was "float like a butterfly sting like a bee" and the robot was pretty fast and had a flipper.

Battlebots has nothing on Robot Wars. c:

What's Battlebots? I'm guessing an American version but there was already an American Robot Wars wasn't there?

actually I dont know. The people sounded british and to be honest I think i watched the british one because it had robots such as Cassius, Roadblock, Chaos 2. I know I just wiki'd it, so I saw the whole second season and parts of the ones after that.

Cassius and Chaos were definately Brits, yeah.

I loved Razer, and thought the cheap copy in the next series didn't deserve to get as far as it did.

Battle bots was straight up amateur robot makers making robots to fight in a ring. They had it organized by weight class and everything. There were no other gimmicks to it. Robot Prizefighting.
