RMXP Spades

Well, I've been making a game for the past couple of weeks. It's more like a pick up and play type of game, not your conventional RPG. It's called RMXP Spades, A game where you actually play spades on your computer. Like playing Solitaire. Basically this is just a scripting project.


Well, I don't know what else to say. The game doesn't have characters or anything soo.... Here. I have a writable demo, but make sure you know who it was made by. ME.

Rules:
The point of Spades is to gain the most books. Books are winned sets of cards and the only way to win cards played, is to play the highest card per turn. Spades have the most value of all other cards. Aces have the most value of within different suits. For example, the ace of hearts is greater than the king of hearts. The Ace of Spades is the highest card playable. Also, If your opponent plays a card, you must play a card of the same suit.

Values:
For most suits (Hearts, Blubs, and Diamonds):
2 = 2
3 = 3
4 = 4
5 = 5
6 = 6
7 = 7
8 = 8
9 = 9
10 = 10
J = 11
Q = 12
K = 13
A = 14

For Spades:
2 = 16
3 = 17
4 = 18
5 = 19
6 = 20
7 = 21
8 = 22
9 = 23
10 = 24
J = 25
Q = 26
K = 27
A = 28

Known Bugs:
Game may freeze up, not respond, or lag during gameplay.
Online Play, Story Mode, and Rules do not work.
Game may error or freeze at end of a game.
Score Window doesn't work.

Haha. Yeah, I know. Story Mode was really just apart of the mock-up before I really started scripting. And thanks. Tell me if you like it, if you try it.
 
Question One: Do you declare books at the beginning of a hand, like in real life? This is a huge factor in how spades becomes a game of bluffing your opponents and table-talking your partner. A big part of Spades strategy is throwing away the right cards depending on how the game is going and your aforementioned bid.

Question Two: If so, do you get sandbags (chits for going over the declared books, resulting in a point penalty if you hit ten chits) or do you simply not get penalized for underbidding? Or is there a flat point penalty for each book over you get?

Question Three: Is there an option to renege? Basically, can you cheat (by throwing a spade to get the book when you should have thrown another suit card)? An AI system for the computer and a player option to call a renege would be awesome. Of course, if you call a renege and the opponent did not, you might lose some points or get a sandbag or whatever.


I love Spades. A lot. Euchre too.

If you could turn this into a minigame implementable into a general RMXP tavern game, you would have my fanboy love forever.
 
I'm not even going to begin to try and wonder how you managed to make a game of Spades in RMXP. Great stuff man. Too bad I can't play Spades yet.

Only thing I can suggest is that you get some new card graphics, the ones you're using are pretty outdated. (They're as old as 1995.) Even just using Vista's cards would be an improvement.

Well, This game is based on the way my friends and I play Spades. This is the first time I've heard of declaring books in Spades. We usually get a number score determined by the number of books and the cards within. But, this could always be added in a settings feature or declarable when calling the scene.

If it does get added as an extra, You will get penalized.

Hm... In the coding, you can't cheat, not yet. But like this the declaring books, I can add it as an extra.

Why thank you. :D And yeah, I'll think about changing the graphics to vista, but if the cards are relatively the same size, I'll probably just make my own.




Sorry but do you think I should post the AI of Opponents in the game? I'm asking because the Difficulty of the bots is augmentable, so I was wondering if I should post what to expect.
