I don't know why people would want to bring rmxp.net back.
rmxp.org is much better in my oppinion, it's the same community with a better management and a more stable board.

Methinks that most of those who so feverently wish for RMXP.net to be up again weren't there for much longer than a week. We had terrible security issues and had to face continual hacking. On top of this, we had a fickly, faulty server that would fail and start up again based solely on luck. All-in-all, RMXP.org is the same community, only better. ;)

As I said last night in irc, I had contributed dozens of resources that I've lost due to a hard drive failure that I wouldn't mind having back (plus, It meant I was being useful) plus, it seemed people respected me a bit more back there.

I dunno, I can't really say which one I prefer, but I would have rather never had to move in the first place.

RMXP.net sucked!

Lord Gradient disappeared, leaving the forum software screwed up and the moderation team could do nothing about it. The hosting sucked - it kept going down as LG didn't pay the bills in time. The games and graphics around then are seriously cruddy (one or two exceptions) compared to what we have here now. Plus, we have Ccoa and Erk managing the forums.

I don't really get the point of all this. If you were to bring back .net without the instability, it would pretty much be like this place, except without the newer stuff we've added. There'd be no Academies, for instance. I do agree with Arc that there were some resources on there that would be nice to see again. But in terms of a home for the actual community, I don't see any advantage .net had over .org.

I second Raziel in everything he said... rmxp.net was kinda boring, while this place actually made me want to be a part of... and I think it did me something good, while some guys here also took advantage ^_^

I have no intention what-so-ever to bring back .net, I simply want to see people's opinions.

I really don't know why people act like .net was a different place than .org.

Most of the members (or at least the active ones from .net came over here) are still around. There is no real difference in the two communities.

The only things different were that .net had no management. Here, we have to active and supportative management and an admin to back them. Other than that, some members aren't active anymore but that's due to time, not changing forums.

Time is all the only effect I see. Rmxp has grown since the english release bringing in hundreds of new people. Because of this, the number of "newbs" to the "veterans" has become off balance.

The only reason I can think to bring .net back would be to put it on archive and let people explore and get things off of it. There is no other reason to bring .net back. We are .net, the new generation.

The only thing I miss about rmxp.net is the good old events that occured there. You can't bring those back, so let's just let those good events commence here and not worry about it.

I just prefer Invision boards, but now, after a year or two with the vBulletin, i simply got used to it.

I say no, here is better, and the community is almost the same (just with some new members, what indicates that it´s growing *more than rmxp.net could xD*)

If it would bring Despain back I would =(

How is it that .net can keep showing up. Far, I know you say you're not trying to bring .net back, but why even bring this topic up. You already know everyone is going to say no. The only thing that is missing is archive resources and scripts, which most of use have practically forgotten.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

.net was crap compared to .org

Org is soo much better, you can do stuff on it that you could never even start to do on Net....Net was unstable and unreliable....there is no real argument, org wins without a doubt.

If they brung it back it wouldn't really achieve much other then some old scripts that are outdated and have no real use anymore and resources in which they have pretty much all been recovered....so there is no point whatsoever.

I wonder the same thing myself as well. It's time to move on. Besides, the old forums took way longer to load on 56k compared to this one.

Awesome Bro

I prefered the graphic feedback on .NET than .ORG in all honesty. But then again, it was a lot less organised. Graphics had to be found via topics as apose to a download manager, making life harder for the searcher.

But i don' know, I just prefered the way a finished resource could get direct comments - As it seems the only reason people browse and comment resources in the download manager is when they want or have recieved something.

Another one of these discussions...

Really though, maybe you liked the community more back then, but that doesn't have anything to do with the domain. As far as I'm concerned, most, if not all, at that time active .net goers went to .org. It was quite empty here at the start though, something we can't deny. Yet, we're running like we should again, .net would've been the same community as .org today (but with instability, an unactive root admin, contests that would never be finished, etc. without new features added, academies, etc.) if it had survived till now. Most people find/found us by googling, and we're still pretty high up in the searching engine.
