RMXP event layer equivelent to older RPGmakers

In older RM's there used to be the option when you made an event to have it be bottom layer, hero layer, or above layer.  I can't seem to find a good way to do this in RMXP.  For instance, let's say I want to walk over an event, but don't want the event to have it's top half of the sprite appear above mine.  Basically what I do is set my hero to always on top to accomplish this.  But this is really tedious, is there a more efficient way to have your hero pass over events w/out them overshadowing you?  (ie putting always through doesn't work because they will overshadow you)

Prodigy stop spamming the forums. Go waste your life elsewhere.

As for your question, Gabriot.
The RMXP Event System basically sets up events this way:

If the Player and the event are NOT Always On Top, the Player appears in front of it when you're one tile in front, and appears behind it when you're one tile behind. If the Player is on Always on Top, you will appear above it even when behind it, and vice versa.

If it's a tileset event, the event will have the same priorities as the tile. If set to Always On Top, the tile immediately gets Priority 5 (the highest).

Finally, if there are two events on top of each other. If no Always on Top box is checked, then the event with a higher ID appears on top.

Unfortunately, this means the only way you can accomplish this is making the player get Always on Top status. Although, it'd be nice if some scripter made it possible to have an "Always on Bottom" status

EDIT: Yeah don't worry Luminier, I already reported this guy several times.

Alright thanks for the response, that sucks though that there isn't some sort of layer thing.  I was fine until I had an event today, where it needed to be under me.  But the only problem was that there is a tile in the 'above' layer that overshadows it from the bottom right, and for the game's purposes it needed to be there.  And let me tell you it was a whole mess of stuff I had to do just to get something that was so simple in the other rpgmakers!

Gabriot, can you post a screenshot of what you are trying to do?

Usually, the only time this gets difficult is if the object is sometimes "on top", and sometimes "below", like a bridge,
or possibly with a jumping system.

Be Well
