RMXP cannot run without a 1024x768 resolution?

So for some reason, upon booting up RMXP today, I was presented with the following error: Cannot run with less than 1024 x 768 resolution.

Now there is only one reason I can attribute to this error. I think it may have something to do with my new graphics card. However, I am not running any different a resolution than before (1280 x 720). I'm just curious if anyone has had this problem. If so, is it fixable? Cus' I'm really fuckin' bummed that XP just doesn't work. Thanks in advance for any input.

RMXP don't runs in resulution lower tha 1024x768. Then 1280x720 won't work because 720 is lower than 768 even with 1280 being higher than 1024.
But you can run rmxp if the resolution is higher in both ways.

If your graphics card won't display a higher resolution as a native resolution, you could try going into the advanced options and creating a custom resolution. Most graphics cards have that option now, and it would allow you to run the program.

Yeah, it works when I run it at that resolution, but I have a widescreen monitor and that is a standard aspect resolution. I'll try Glitches idea, or running at 1280x768 which may work, but still doesn't look that great on my monitor. Ans by the way, as I stated before, the resolution 1280 x 720 worked for almost two years until I got the new card. So technically the program doesn't need that resolution. There's just some strange inconsistency.

Perhaps you should have bought a bigger monitor. 1280x720? What is that, 17 inch widescreen? These days you can get 19 to 24 inch widescreen monitors and get to enjoy resolutions like 1680x900 or 1920x1200.
