Rising animated water?

...I wasn't sure where to put this... >>;;

I stumbled on this, and thought the first way to die in the video was a pretty cool idea for a trap. I have absolutely no idea how they got the water to both animate and rise like that, though, or how to do it in VX. Any ideas?

Hmm, i work with XP but i'd do this with pictures. Create 3 or 4 pictures and show them one after another, each with 1 frame in between. When a switch is hit, the x position of the pictures should change (aka the water moves up). Pretty fun idea, i might do something alike.

Oooh. Looks quite interesting.

I'd give props to gRaViJa because I'd be lazy and make several different maps with the different levels of water (or toxic waste in the video's case). So in other words you'd never really see the water rise. It wouldn't be that noticeable, either. lol

Alas, it gives me a challenge to work on.

Not a huge amount, but probably a fair bit.

Personally, I would do it with scripting. Infact I recently did a tutorial on how to animate a sprite. You could use the same logic for it and just set a zoom factor on it to have it 'expand' etc. Then just feed it numbers when you want it to change and it would do it.

I seem to remember rpgmaker2000 or 2k3 had a "replace autotile" feature. I don't remember seeing how it was used but I assume to for for something like this.

Or it could just be an event with a water tile graphic. Copied into rows to move up or down.
