Revenge of the PS3

Last night in the mail I got my monthly new issue of EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) and the cover story is "Revenge of the PS3!"  Apparently because of all of the new exclusive games being relieced for the PS3 and the future of Blu-Ray the PS3 now stands a chance against the dreaded Xbox 360.  First of all Bioware now belonging to EA, Mass Effect is now being ported over to the PS3, and with the currend distputes between Epic Games (makers of Unreal Tornament 3 and Gears of War) and Microsoft (charges you for everything), Microsoft is planning on looking for a new developer for the upcoming Gears of War 2, if Microsoft would find someone to make GoW2 (GOW would be God of War) Epic and Microsoft would be going to court about who owns the game ,and I garrentee Epic would win and maybe publish GoW on the PS3,---

For Xbox fans the only place the 360 wins in console sales is a small part of Europe and the USA (sould ban censorship, I'll be posting an artical about this, along with Global Warming).  Also the only reason multiplatform games look better on the 360 compared to the PS3 is because developers need to develop for the xbox first because of how much more space the blu-ray discs have(blu-ray is more popular than HD-DVD).

---Microsoft is also loosing 1st party developers, who are becoming 3rd party to develop for the PS3 also,  the PS3 will have a deffinate but possible $100 price drop in July (to find out the deffinate price drop you will have to follow E3 come May.  This is just the tip of the iceburgh

You need to read up on your definitions of First Party and Third Party.

First Party developers for a system are the people who made the system. That is to say, Microsoft is the only first party developer for XBox360, Sony is the only first party developer for Playstation3, and Nintendo is the only first party developer for the Wii.

I always hated Nintendo and Sony in the console wars and backed Microsoft, because I was a former SEGA follower. However, the script has completely flipped. SEGA have let me down. I hate the 360. I love the Wii, and the PS3 is the future, and possibly too far ahead of it's time to be truly appreciated right now. So I say, good riddance Xbox, time to bow to the PlayStation.

Well I own each of the Next Gen consoles, so I don't have to argue and I'm not a fanboy.
However, I've always followed Sony, their consoles have been most reliable, and have come out on top no matter what. With these consoles, I think the PS3 is bound to win for several reasons:

The XBOX360 has 22gb RAM while the PS3 has 25gb RAM.
The XBOX has reached it's maximum potential, while the PS3 still has a long way to go.
It has been said that the PS3 will eventually support 4 Dimensional graphics, a good example of this is HOME, it is like a Sims game for Playstation Network.
XBOX Live = £40 (I heard it's $50 in US) a year, while PSN is 100% free.
Playstation has more top exclusive titles, example, Final Fantasy games, God of War games, MGS games, Gran Turismo games.
Playstation has been known to have more RPG's for the RPG type of people, Folklore was one of/the first exclusive RPG on PS3, which is a really great game.
The PS3 has the sixaxis controller which gives games a whole new perspective, Lair is really good for this along with amazing graphics.
The controller has stayed the same oldskool style which is really great and is nicer to hold.

This is just my opinion, that the PS3 will win by far just as the PS2 did, but I guess others will argue against it, do as you wish.

people have been saying "the ps3 is just about to get good, its going to be the best just wait for it!" since the day it launched. pretty much every single game on the ps3 that is even somewhat popular is also on the 360.

they keep on reporting on how the ps3 is about to rise up and conquer the market, but it never happens. so either the ps3 is a huge procrastinator, or these journalists are desperate to believe the console isn't a letdown.

the biggest thing sony fans complain about is how xbl is 50$ PER FUCKING YEAR. seriously, if you cant afford 50$ for an entire year of online capabilities then you probably shouldn't be spending hundreds of dollars on video game consoles in the first place. that 50$ gets you access to the biggest, most active online community out of the three consoles. people liked XBL. they still do. M$ got it right the first time around. they then made it better on the 360. people love the game points system, and using the same login ID for every game. it was such a good idea that the other companies are mimicing the idea. isn't PSN supposed to have some mirror version of the gamer score in the near future?

i dont hate the ps3, i think its a good console with shitty games. i also think they need to quit talking about what theyre going to do and how theyre going to rule the world and just fucking do it already.

I honestly can't see a Sony product out and failing. But beyond all the arguments ... Beyond HOME, or the coding problems, or the price points ... Beyond all that, this is a pivotal year because if Sony cannot acquire more big titles like MGS4, they're going to doom themselves into 3rd place. Nearly everything on the PS3 right now, you can get on the 360. And HOME still isn't happening.

Speaking of which--Gamecube was in 3rd place forever. It's not like being in 3rd place dooms you--atleast, if you've got the $$ to cope with the losses. It's just a hard lesson to Sony to be better out of the starting gate next round.

Right first thing, we don't know what 4D is so PS3 can't have 4D graphics. Only Sony fanboys would believe that.
Sony lie a LOT and that's the reason I don't like them.

The only thing I like about the PS3 is the fact you can link your PSP to it and play your games on that, but otherwise, they're games aren't fun and the ones that are, you can play on the 360.

Xbox Live, that's another matter. Its something like 70p a week or something stupid, not a lot. Plus It doesn't lag at all (unless you have crap internet), so PS3 are kinda screwed.

Oh and Microsoft are already working on their new console, they've been working on it since the 360 came out. The 360 was only to hold up their market while they build their new one, I'm pretty damn happy it did this well.

I agree with the 4D graphics, 4D would have to be holographic like in Starwars and Startrek, but with the fact that HD-DVDs are dead and PS3 games will be dropping $10, combined with the possible $100 price drop of the 40GB PS3,  Sony will reclaim the top of the console wars, O I just found out that 21 years ago, Sony and Microsoft built a console together.

I've come to the conclusion that this same old stupid argument is moot. Who really gives a fuck which one is better. There is always going to be someone with their opinions and someone else with theres. I'm sick of people arguing over it.

The Xbox is good, it has a lot of problems. I love it and will forever. PS3 is great, but I'm still waiting for some good games. The Wii is the best thing since sex...So let's stop being stooges and just play our video games. Let people liek whatever they want...damn.

I do agree though that the other consoles are pretty good, although it is truth that the PS3 and Wii have been much more reliable than the 360. As for this year, it does look hopeful for Sony, what with all those things mentioned, so we'll see. And I've never even heard of 4D games, I have no idea what you're talking about.
In the Feb. EGM, they had an article detailing the best upcoming Wii, 360, PS3, and multiplatform 08 games, and their pros and cons. On the PS3 part of it, only 1 game had a real con, the rest weren't really on par with the cons other games had. Also, for each section there were 3 quotes talking about how well the consoles would do this year from various people. One of the Wii quotes was that Wii would still win up until the PS3 got below $300. So, very hopeful indeed.
But, so far the PS3 hasn't necessarily wowed the gaming community as a whole(it's already wowed me :wink, so it's all anyone's guess who will come out on top this year.

Man, every PS3 topic is always "just you wait, this year, tomorrow, it'll be good soon..."  Microsoft has an aggressive hold on the market and they know how to acquire properties.  Sony scares everyone off by making difficult technology that's hard to develop (same thing with the PS2).

As far as the Wii is concerned, it's the worst system of this generation for people who actually enjoy games.  The thing's a glorified coin-op cheap arcade machine that appeals to people who play bejewled on their cell phone.  The only thing Nintendo fans expect on the Wii IS Nintendo games.  I can't Nintendo for attracting lazy developers who release bullshit like CARNIVAL GAMES, OKAMI, and BROTHERS IN ARMS ROAD TO HILL 3 HOLY SHIT THIS IS A PORT OF A FUCKING 2005 PS2 GAME WTF???

That's the Wii's highlights this year.  Sure, you have Smash Bros. whoopdee doo.  If I were to ignore Nintendo games then all I'd have to keep my Wii company are terrible PS2 ports and "Throw thing at the thing" mini-games.

I think you missed my point, what I was trying to get across is that this year, Sony will either beat, or come close t beating Microsoft.
The Wii isn't going to last the full console generation, Nintendo already has to make a Wii with a DVD player in it to make it last longer, the Wii w/ DVD player comes out later this year

By the way all of the posts I've made since October were through the PS3's browser, which is nice on an Internet enabled console

I don't really understand how you can understate Nintendo's first-party titles. Pretty much everyone knows that everything for the Wii other than Nintendo's own games is total shit, but at the same time everyone knows that Nintendo's first-party games are amazing.

dont you have to have actually have had claim of something in the first place to be able to RE-claim it? the ps3 has always been in dead last.

i don't get what blu-ray vs HD DVD in concern to motion pictures has anything to do with video games.  never, could understand that. so people are buying blu-ray. okay, and this is bad for the 360 because... people are only buying these consoles to play movies?

imo the whole HD vs blu ray is just irrelevant to the console war, and the only reason people think it matters is because it's the ONE thing ps3 fanboys have to cling to, to try to convince themselves the ps3 isn't a waste of money.

Yeah but Cruelty, your just showing how much of a 360 Fanboy you really are, and also, HOME for the PS3 IS going to be 4D, it's a Dimension inside a 3 Dimension world, the Sims games were considered 4D as you played in their dimension, whilst inside the 3 Dimensional world, but it isn't considered 4 Dimensional until it is in High Definition or Blu Ray, and in many of my dads Magazines (All the DVD ones and FILM ones), they say that Blu Ray is actually 4 Dimensional, something to do with the textures on the screen, I'm going to have to find this lol.

Another game that WILL be 4D, is Little Big Planet, that game looks so god damned amazing, the reason I say this is 4 Dimensional, is that you can actually TELL what the materials are, and they even act like it, on most games, a rock and a bal of wool, will be the same 3D Rendered ball, with a different skin over it, how boring is that ? Well this, each one has their own physical state, you can tell that it's made differently, they have the properties of the items in real life, Try youtubing this game and you'll see how great it is.

Sorry for my little rant there, but there is proof that 4D is here.

there you go. its only 4dimensional if its in HD.

theres no such thing as a fourth dimension. adding photorealistic textures and physics to a highly detailed 3d rendered object does not qualify a 4th dimension.  there's only three dimensions in reality, so if a videogame developer somehow manages to develop an entirely new one that doesn't/can't even exist, i'm pretty sure we'll all get sucked into a wormhole or something.

btw, i'm not a 360 fanboy, i just call em like i see em. i dont even own a 360 (or any next-gen console), but i have played all of the next-gens, seeing as my best friend wastes his money on them.
i'm more of a handheld kinda guy, and a psp fanboy.
