Resource Manager Plans

Resource Manager Plans

So this week I have been mostly learning MySQL. I put it to use making my own blog, and feel happy enough with it to apply it to .org.

I will be working on the resource manager again.

Each resource will have it's own page, which will show the image, the license/other info if applicable, and a comments section. Anyone can comment, and comments are displayed below the image.

This will all be sanitised and secure, don't worry. It will not use the forum database anyway so the potential for disaster is minimal.

Statistics

I hope to edit the way forum statistics are shown. Instead of "total posts" just being forum posts, it will be:

Total Posts = Forum Posts + Resources + Resource Comments + HBChan Posts + Pastebin Posts + Pages (in the CMS)

Since these are all parts of the site. Nothing devious or anything I assure you, I just want it to better portray what we have here. There will be a page with a full breakdown of statistics with each bit posted in full for anyone who wants to snoop around there.

I think it would be a difference of about 7000 posts from the start, so nothing really major.

I am not sure whether to mess with total threads. It could easily be:

Total Threads = Forum Threads + Resources + HBChan Threads + Pastebin Posts

I am not sure.

Anyway, nothing is final and I haven't started yet. Just to let you know of things to come ~

if I may suggest something, we should have tags or should be able to organize resources in the resource board. If I am looking for a particular icon for example, its a pain in the ass to look through 50+ pages. We should categorize the resources to make it flow better.

Creation Asylum and RRRevolution to name 2 have this sort of system, it's good to see HBGames with one too. Keep up the good work.

The new system is now fully online o/

I'll announce it when I've styled it a bit better. It's functional, but not pretty (the comment submission interface).
