Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles

If you are a big fan of Resident Evil like I am, you MUST get a copy of this game. As a long term collector of all things survival horror, this game will be dynamite.

It is an on-rails shooter for the Wii, in which you control many characters from the series partaking in their own missions. Some of it is stuff we have already seen, but there are several new plot elements that have never been included in the main storyline before. These include Rebecca Chambers and Richard Aiken fighting in the mansion, Wesker preventing his own assassination, and S.T.A.R.S. destroying Umbrella once and for all. Wesker is playable in the last level too, in which he comes face to face with the ruthless Russian leader, Sergei Vladimir.

I soooo want a Wii now. Do I need a memory card, or does the Wii have its own built in memory storage capabilities? :)

I am enjoying UC a lot atm, and what I can say about it is that you have to be great at aiming to get anywhere. Unlike other on-rails shooters, UC requires a lot more strategy. The boss fights are pretty epic, although they do boil down to the timed and tested "Remember it's attack pattern!" strategies at times. Other then that, I'm dissapointed in the RE3 scenario. They reused the areas from Outbreak, and don't even keep the old Lickers.

Overall, it's a must for RE fans and a good buy for Wii owners.

Watched the whole thing online. And TBH, it just doesn't sit well with me.

As a fan of Resident Evil for 8 years, I just thought this hurt the storyline a great deal. The reworked scenarios were just not accurate. I think it's a disgrace to even call it part of the series.

Not to be a whiner, but the new chapters were full of missing plot points. I commend the effort, but Capcom are gonna have to start pulling their socks up.

Could've been so much worse though...

Sadly, I missed out on way too many RE's to know what's happening anymore. You think UC would be a good way to know what I've missed?

Not entirely. RE2, RECVX, and RE4 are missing from the lineup, but it does give a good retelling of RE0, RE1, and RE3.

Also, the only storyline they f'ed up is RE2, and that's by mixing ClaireA and LeonA up. Other then that though, very few retcons were made besides from monster placement, and how character's meet/split up. e.g:Jill goes with Chris instead of Barry. But honestly, you can still know what happened, so what's so bad about it?

This is an awful thing because Barry must say 'you were going to be a jill-sandwich!' or else it's not a resident evil game. Not to mention Barry is the manliest character since Duke Nukem and must have homage paid to him. Inaccurately representing his greatness is the most grievous of crimes.

Well, Wesker's pure awesomeness makes up for it. I assure you.
