Critique is very helpful. Yes. However, both Showkaiser and Venetia have talked about demonstrating how they did things, because they could see people were clueless (textures), or because they said they had a 'trick' to how they did it which made it much simpler (scales).

Look up the example of Venetia's scales on her little raptor like mount, specifically. Or look at Showkaiser's grass tile - I don't have any idea what the logic behind that is.

As I said, people say they will do these tutorials/guides/demonstrations of 'tricks' that make things easier, but do not have the time, and this is understandable - but if someone has a clue to how they did it or what the tricks are if there actually are any, people will love them for sharing it.

Maybe what I'm asking for is clearer now. :)

Edit: I made multiple 'points' in these last two posts, obviously I got confused in responding, lol. Just stick with the first post and how I explained it there, it should be pretty clear. ^_^
 
Can anyone tell me how to use vehicles on RPG Maker VX? When I set the Airship locaition on quick event locaition it doesn't show. When I put it on map it doesn't let me drive it. I've tried get on/off vehicles..conditional branches for getting in it/driving it..nothing has worked. So could someone tell me how to do this

P.S. Can someone tell me how to add tilesets??
 
I am looking for summonning tutorial for RPG maker VX and its based on commont event, not script.
1. the summon is character based, so it has its own level and skills
2. the summon should dismiss after the battle ends
3. if there are no empty spaces for the summon, the summoners will fail to summon anything, so if we want to summon, we need one empty space
If someone could help me, i would really appreciate that

Just someone who shows what the terms mean and the best way to go about this. Many people use this so it would be helpful to everyone. Just a thought.
 
I am trying to make a world map for my game on VX, but I'm running into some troubles, it looks pretty odd to me. Is there a tutorial out there for making a world map with a variety of climates? Mountains, forests, rivers, oceans, towns, etc. (w/entrances to the Mountains/forests) would be good. I realize this is a little basic for a tutorial, but the world map I've made so far is pretty ugly looking at the moment.

I don't really know what you mean. Are you asking for someone to make a mapping tutorial...? Specifically for worldmapmapping? Have you tried looking at some actual satellite maps of Earth? real wold maps? world maps from other games?
 
yeah, to all of the above. I just can't seem to get what I want done with the tilesets provided and I thought maybe I am just not doing it correctly. The two water tilesets under 'A' don't seem very good for 'rivers' and they look too square... I can't seem to find any tile that is different from the other 'forest' tilesets under 'A' to indicate an entrance.. the towns look a bit odd, and I can't locate a tile that would look good as a road/path for the world map, to name a few things
 
What do you mean by "finalize"?  Do you want to know how to fade out and have a "Congratulations!" or return to the title screen or do you need story advice on how to wrap up a situation with dialogue and stuff?
 
Some BIG problems with the Ship tileset.
Needed:
  • Ship Tileset Tutorial
  • For XP
  • I want to know how I can make an Ship Map with the default Ship tileset.
 
There's an option "Compress Game Data" under File.  You can choose to encrypt it that way, then upload it to a site like Mediafire.  There are some small things that you can do with it, though, so I'll make a tutorial on it.  I'm working on my game tonight, but I should be able to do the tutorial tomorrow for you.
 
As far as pixel art tuts go, a discussion on palette selection would be very nice. As Des said, you can't have a tutorial to teach someone how to be a better artist, but you can give some general advice, and that advice would be welcomed by a lot of people. Even just discussing what factors you consider when picking colors and giving a few examples would be useful.

I'd write something up on spriting, but I'm really not an expert. *shrug* Maybe I'll do something for my template, but I'm not too useful otherwise.
 
Actually, one thing I find useful for improving art is looking at different artists' construction styles. If any of the people asking for pixel tutorials think it might be helpful, I can post some progress things of mine and explain what I'm doing and why at each step. *shrug* My style for tiles, at least, might be a bit unusual because I tend to start out rough and refine as I go rather than outlining everything perfectly and then shading it in.

Also, why is tutorials a subforum of RM discussion instead of general support? General support makes a hell of a lot more sense.

We're trying to keep people from posting help topics here.  It's not working very well, but that's why it's here.

As for the art tutorials, anything is helpful.  If you have your own unique style and want to make a tutorial, I'm sure it would benefit at least a few members.
 
I also wanna know how to make a good ship with the RMXP Ship Exterior tileset/.

Also, can some one make a tutorial on how to actually use the VX tiles?
 
Well, I'd like to know how to make animated title screens for RPG MAKER XP.
Basiclly, the title is going to be a dude with a cape and sword over his shoulder. The cape is going to be fluttering in the wind.
