Removing battler during animation? help!

Hi all, here's my problem.
In my game that im making, there's magic and tech skills. The tech skills are close range skills, so I wanted to make the character look like they are doing the attack themselves. I came up with the idea that I could create the skills using an animation but the character would appear in the background while an obvious body double is performing the tech skill and that makes it look crappy.

Anyone have any idea how to make the battler disappear while i perform animations? I'm using Minkoff's animated battlers if that helps...

Thanks!  ;)

PS: Sorry if this is a double post, I couldn't see any topic like this and I couldn't find anything like this in the lost scripts archive><

Uh, couldn't you just make those skills call a common event that erases the battler, and then brings it back when the skill is over(i.e. number of frames.)? It sounds pretty simple. It sure sounds like it could be done more easily with events, than scripting...

Hmm..never thought about it like that...thanks  :)
I'll give it a try.

No problem. Let me know if it works out. There's probably something that I left out.

Um...it didnt work. The common event activates AFTER the animation so the character stays visible until after the animation then disappears... Any ideas? :S

Hmm... Maybe, instead of setting the animation on the skill, you could activate it with the common event. I'm not sure, though...

I can understand that concept, but how would the game know what character needs to be attacked? :S Maybe it is a RGSS problem after all?

Try this.
Create a new animation. Length doesn't matter - make it a frame long.
In the 'SE and Flash Timing' part of the Animation editor, create an effect starting from frame 1 that will hide the target for a little longer than your tech skill animation. Set this as the user animation, and sit back and enjoy.
Hope this helps.
