Rememberance.

This is a new game I plan on making using RPG Maker XP.

Some features I plan to use:

-Monsters you can see before going into combat. (Already done)
-Weapon that levels up with you. (Thinking of how I want to do this.)
-Armor that levels up with you. (Thinking of how I want to do this.)
-Some skills for mining, lumberjacking, herbalism, fishing. (Know how I want to do it, just need to write the code.)
-Blacksmithing, Alchemy, Cooking, and Wood Working will be important to get past some quests. 99 will be max in each skill.
-Ability to tame monsters to join your team. You can also level them. (I have an idea on how to do this.)
-9 Tier Remort system. (Every 99 levels you can do a quest to be sent to level one. You will keep your stats, and equipment, but it will be harder to level.) 9999 life and 999 stats will be max, after 9 remorts.
-Training system. (Able to train your stats to a max per remort. As in 100 in stats and 1000 in life will be max for remort 1. 200 stats and 2000 life for remort 2. so on so forth.)
-Able to learn all skills over time.
-Steps will have an importance in this game.


Maps:

They will be large 500x500 maps for the main world.
-Many events per map.
-At least 10 quests per map.
-At least 4 bosses per map. (Yes you can tame the bosses if your skill is high enough.)
-Some monsters will go after you, while others are just wandering.


Towns:

-There will be very few towns. I am thinking of only 10 max.
-Bones is the currency, may be tough to get at the beginning.
-Plan to make is so you can buy houses. Renting will be available. (Extra Income)
-Warping system.



Dungeons:

-Multiple levels.
-Puzzles.
-Able to destroy the cave. (Such as knocking out a support, blocking the pathway.)
-Multiple boss monsters.




I havn't worked on any new tilesets, sprites, animations, or any of the glitter for the game yet. I don't plan on finishing this anytime soon either. It will take me a long time, as it will only be in my spare time I will work on it.

I plan to have absolutly everything new. Everything will be original work done by myself.

I may upload small demo's of maps for people to try out, see how they like what I have in mind.


Also, I understand a lot of people on here have said no to the large maps. I plan to decorate quite a lot. There will be deserts, plains, mountains, underwater realms, in the sky areas, and many mixes of all of them.

As for the story, I have one in mind. This won't be too story based. Pretty open ended. Quests will be plenty, and you can keep going to get maxed out.


Tell me what you think of this. Any ideas/comments/sugjestions/critisizm will be read and may apply to some aspects of this game.

P.S. It will be just myself and maybe my brother working on this, so it will be slow going but everything will be original for artwork, sound, animation, and everything else.
 
Hmm, sounds interesting but. I'd rather wait until you put up a story before I truly judge this, or demo, which ever comes first.

Yeah. I am working on the story, the thing is not a lot of this will be story driven. It will be really open to do as you please.


I will be in training all next week for my ProCurve Networking by HP Certificate, so I doubt I will get anything done next week.

I will be using the basic tile set for the first map as a demo. Have the basic monsters, and able to hit the first remort then work on the second remort. It won't look that pretty as the basic tilesets are sort of... limiting to say the least.
 
Sounds like an interesting features list, but without a story, a world or characters, there's not much to really judge this by.

Sounds like a lagfest...

Unless you aren't having many events/quests on the main map, you may want to consider splitting it up or using a Zelda-esque system, where there is no main map. The Anti-Lag script could help, but you still might wish to make that map smaller/less intense...

Skills sound good. By the "Remort" system... what do you mean? I just haven't heard of it before... I assume starting the game over with your current character(s)? Sounds kind of boring-- what's the advantage to doing so?
